Glycemic index question

The glycemic index is based on studies of single test meals. Combining anything on that list with a fat or protein will lower the number dramatically. Use it as a base for food selection and don't worry about yams. They've been a bodybuilding staple for years and will not negatively effect your bodyfat levels unless you're consuming an overabundance of calories.
 
I imagine in the case of yams the fiber is not taken into account with the glycemic index. Yams are loaded with fiber wihch can significantly slow down absorption.
