glutamine or creatine

painly

New member
Well im cutting and i need something to help on my time away from eca. i want to maintain bloat for the time being, so was leaning towards creatine, but ive heard glutamine does almost the same and more. What are the specific benifits of glutamine, and how much should i be on??

thanks

alright i'm not sure why you be bloated if you're cutting. i think creatine is worthless unless you're eating to bulk. glutamine is better for cutting in my opinion, since its anticatabolic and should help maintain some muscle while on a cutting diet. but thats just my opinion.

Painly
Glutamine's main function's in the body are to promote glycogen and protein synthesis and to promote proper gastroinintestinal function. Even though it's one of, if not the most abundant amino acid in our bodies, our stores get depleted though physical and mental stress. Especially when you're dieting and you may not have the chance to get enough glutamine through whole foods, it's especially essential to supplement your diet with glutamine, which will definitely serve as an anti-catabolic agent with in your body.

Both glutamine and creatine have been shown to have muscle cell volumizing effects, but I think it's creatine that you'll notice more results with. Glutamine won't do shit for increasing strength and muscle endurance. Creatine's the way to go here.

Thank you all for the reply's,

i am not blaoted now, by any means, i am getting to the very depleted part of dieting (going on 2 months now), and need to get some bloat, in order for my body to store more water than anything, and give me a bit more mass in general whill working out. My diet is very on point, consuming about 60%p/30%c/10%f

consuming about 200-250 grams a protien a day, with only one protien drink (might i add i have found over the years that real food is essential while dieting in order to maintain thyroid function).

thank you
ill go for the creatine

i used both for bulking. many people do

ISN_Man : he'll notice more creatine strenght and size on creatine yes, but if he's cutting doesn't it seem kinda pointless to take it? especially if he gets back on the eca, since it is a diuretic to some extent which i would think counteracts creatines water retaining effects somewhat.

painly: if you wanna retain bloat, creatine will do alot more thank glutamine for you, but then again i've never heard anyone who is cutting say they want to keep bloat. maybe i am just misunderstanding you. are you coming off of your cutting diet then?

It's not necessarily pointless to take creatine while dieting because you don't want to become dehydrated for one, because if your muscle cells don't have water in them, you won't grow. Not to mention, as I've said before, creatine will make you hold water within the muscle cell, not between the muscle and the skin.
Through taking the ECA at the same time as creatine, you can most likely be sure that if you are holding water between the skin and muscle that it will be gone. Now, through staying on creatine, you'll hold water within the muscle cell allowing you to remain in the proper state for building muscle. Not to mention, you'll get a muscle cell volumization effect from the creatine.
So all and all, I think you just need to make sure you're drinking plenty of water while you're taking ECA and creatine, and you should be fine and be able to get very lean. I don't see why this would cause a problem. Just my feelings on it though.
By the way, if you're concerned with possible water retention in other areas besides the muscle cell, decrease your daily sodium intake. This will make a huge difference.

see im taking a break from eca right now, so thats of no concern,

i want bloat to help maintain strenth and muscle, no one cares what they look like till they feel its time to get shredded and get back on teh diuretics, i dont see how you cant understand me wanting to keep size during cutting, while still loosing actual fat/

thanks all

If you want to fill in your muscles and gain some strength during the dieting then I would suggest creatine. Creatine and glutamine are both cell volumizers but creatine makes the muscle cells able to generate ATP(cell energy) very quickly while glutamine doesn't. However, if you take a caffeine supplement during your creatine cycle then much of the absorption will be blocked. I can't remember the exact biochemical reactions but if you would like to know then I can take the time to look it up for you.
