Hey everyone
I get hypoglycemic sometimes, especially after or during a work out, or missing a meal. Often I get hypo after just 15-20 minutes of working out and I need to stop because I start shaking and feel like I'm just going to drop.
To save myself the hassle - I take a few glucose tablets prior to working out and this seems to work okay. I don't get hypo after such a short time and can manage a good 45 minutes before I start feeling off again.
I can consume up 10 tablets a day sometimes depending on how I'm feeling. Sometimes it does not matter how much I eat or how frequently - I'll just start feeling hypo again. It even happens after having a shower most times
My question is - does this glucose that I'm taking get stored as fat? Or am I using it straight away so its just being converted into energy?
I dunno if this is neccessary but here is the breakdown of the tablets:
1 tablet =
5 cal
1.4g carb
I usually drop about 3 before working out and depending how I feel I take another 1-2 afterwards. I follow that up with a protien shake or dinner after I get the train home.
I was just reading an article about carbs and sugars and how the body stores excess glucose as fat.
Also - does anyone else suffer from hypoglycemia like this? What kind of solutions work for you?
Any constructive comments would be appreciated
Thanks!
