Getting old....tell signs...

Nobledude

Well-known member
I can feel it on my joints...I see the 40 year old sign beckoning to me.

For those close to 40 and over, how do you guys are holding up? Even though I am an athletic dude who have been working out for the last 9 years quite constantly, 3 times a week, with seldom hiatus....the age is catching up to me...

Definitely the joints.......and I keep forgetting to take my Glucosamine....

And ever since I turned 30 I've hurt myself in all sorts of weird ways.......

did glucosamine improve your joints? I never tried....

Yeah they feel better when I take it......just can't remember to!

OK... you wanna talk getting old? I had a facial today so I had to take my nose piercing out. The jewelry is only 7 months old. I couldnt see the post to screw the back on! My new glasses wont be ready for couple weeks so I was forced to use my OLD GRUMP's non-perscription cheap-ass magnifying glasses that I swore I would NEVER EVER EVER use (you know, the ones that EVERY old person has) because otherwise I would not have been able to see the fucking post to screw the back on on the inside of my nostril.

I AM TOO FUCKING OLD.

*sniff*

I admit it. I have thrown up the white flag. :(

im 40 and fighting thru the pain every day. Just watch out for injuries. I have had several and im a hardhead so take it from me,get some rest.

It's not getting old BM, it's getting too good for the young punks.

BTW, tell the old guy to start making some hole.

Been pretty lucky so far *knock on wood*. Hands bother me sometimes, but I smashed them up pretty bad when I was young, so I'm sure it's more to do with that than age. Metabolism definitely gets slower.

I hit my first "hormone change" at age 37 but didn't really notice any issues as far as health. Just this past summer I noticed another hormone change (age 41) where I have more joint issues now and I probably have to focus more on learning to change how I lift and train - my goals, etc. I definitely pay more attention to my supplements, 'preventative maintenance' type stuff, and less pursuit of that more mass / more weight / bigger lifts thing. It is rather humbling but some of that becomes less important and more important to have a strong body & good quality of life.

yet another tell tale sign!!! lol!

I had a thought the other day... I'm 37 and have an attraction towards older men, though it's starting to shift. I started to realize, gawd... when I'm 40 I'll be dating guys 50!!! eeekkk!!!! hell no! I'm not one to take age into consideration now, but I believe I will later... I don't want to have my SO keel over too soon... yeah, yeah.. they could get hit by a truck or die some random way at anytime, but I figure why increase my odds?
to me, that's a sign of age.

What you dont understand is that that old bastard is trying to put ME into the early grave... not kidding you.

If he were a younger man he would have killed me by now and we have only been married 2 months! :worried:

I am not kidding... If I would allow it we would have sex morning, noon and night every day if I could.

Old bastard is 55. Sheesh... you'd think that once a day and he'd be good to go!

Not at all.... I am the first wife he has had in his bed in 30 years that is not bisexual. He is used to having no less than 2 women sometimes more.

And it isnt about him. He only wants to please me and I am like, "Honey... can I catch my breath again?.... PLEASE?!" :worried:

Seriously, he is so good and kind and loving NO OTHER MAN could ever even hope to divert my attention.

you should consider an avatar change....

I'm 40 and the only thing I noticed is I have less energy. But that is related to hormones. My joints hurt a little, but other than that, I feel great!

I definitely have anxiety about getting old. There's not a fucking thing good about it. Just have to deal with it and fight it as long as I can.

if u start getting that 'big face' syndrome --- you're getting old.

that and a beer belly.

Your ears and nose never stop growing. Start looking at how big old people's noses and ears are.

I just turned 39 less than 2 weeks ago. For me, I lose muscle faster if I don't work out. And it takes longer to gain back any strength I've lost. I hurt my rotator cuff back in June and took a break for a while from lifting. Its better now, so I'm getting ready for the usual beginning of the year cutting that usually brings 15 lbs drop, but that gets harder every year also. I also get hangovers that last up to two days if I go out and party. I don't do that often these days, though. Maybe twice in the last year. I've talked to friends my age, and they agree about the hangover part. Hangovers last longer once you get older.
And my gums are starting to recede, which isn't cool.
On the plus side, I still like my music loud, I still have my health, and just last month someone thought I was 24.

i listen to AM radio.
i groan every time i get up out of a chair.
i have a rotary phone. and when i have people over, they point and laugh and ask where i got it.
i know my manual turning signals.
i call the refridgerator the "icebox".

Lets see..there are more "young punks" everywhere. getting called sir, gag, by the waitress. Cops are 'young punks" no one at work has seen the movies I make references to.I have earings with chains and axes on them in my drawer.

as far as lifting, have to be smarter, tendons are really easy to flare up, freaking eyesght sucks ass, I gotta watch just manhandleing things at work, uh recovery time sucks unless iam 'on',lol.

When you are 32 you wont feel the small stuff anymore. But you will feel lots of other things if you try to live like you are 17 again. Its give and take.

2) I let out a little groan when I sit down somewhere.

3) I'm always looking to sit down somewhere.

Wanna see what is mr.DB take on that...he must be over 50...

A few months past my 50th birthday anyway...

Joints are okay so far. My eyes went south at 43, went straight from no correction to bifocals. I need a new prescription again.

I'm on medications for blood pressure and cholesterol.

Earlier this month my back went out on me. I haven't had back problems before, any strains down there were gone in a day. This one's been with me since Dec 7. The doctor and a sports therapist have helped a lot, but it's still not back to normal. I just hope it's not a recurring problem now.

And I keep getting fatter. I've started growing hair on my back that wasn't there before. I thought my cock was getting shorter but it's just the pubic fat pad. The third leg is still working normally, so far.

At least I'm not bald, I've still got all my hair. It's turning gray on my chin and getting some salt 'n pepper upstairs.

Same here, I thought squatting had dropped my arches even more. I've jumped from 10 1/2 to 12.

I am 22, and a few months ago, for the first time in my life, i experienced tense back muscles that hurt quite a bit, when i tried to move awkwardly as usual.

Other than that i am good. I feel like i am very very very old though. Like centuries old. I have lived in so many different places, in so many continents that every phase of my life seems like a lifetime. And at 22, i look at some guys who are 44 etc, around twice my age and i am in awe. Because that i such a long time. I don't know what i would do if i live to be twice the age i already am. I have lived so much already. I met some 60 year old that say they stayed at their jobs for 30 years, 35 years etc. Hell i can't hold a job for more than a year, even if i were having a fantastic time! I dunno.

And then some people are in thier 80s. That is just creepy right there. They should be dieing for death.

HRT bro

Hormone Replacement Therapy...........

also do higher rep workouts for a while since they only challenge soft tissue which has high blood flow and fast healing abilities

It has been said before, but at 42 I am now changing my workouts from high weight low rep to low weight high rep. I can still keep a lot of the muscle volume but I do not feel as strong as I was 5 years ago when I was lifting for strength. As long as I don't push a lot of heavy weight the joints are still good. 5 years ago when lifting heavy, my joints hurt a lot more when I weighed 270 than they do now that I weigh 230. Still want to make it to 210 but my diet needs to change some more. My knees are good, can still run as well as I did when I was younger. No aches there. I feel pretty good in the gym because I am about as built as the young guys and don't complain half as much as they do.

I am in the same boat....try to ease up on the weight bar a bit. I am not 22 anymore and dont wanna get injured due to egotistical approach ...
