Forearm splints?

I am gettin sharp pains in my forearms when lifting heavy and even light weight. Barbell curls, dumbells etc. What is the cause of this? I work my forearms also, is there anything i can do to prevent or cure this shooting pain thanks.

likely tendonitis. Just take it easy for a while and avoid using anti-inflamatories.

I've gotten the tendonitis from doing regular straight bar curls... or at least once I got them, doing straight bar curls absolutely KILLED my forearms... :)

If this is the case for you, maybe switch over to the EZ Curl bar... do lighter weights on it... do the wider grip on the bar... I remember it helped me. Also, try doing some hammer curls with the DB... I remember those also not causing as much pain.

ANOTHER exercise ... :) ... the concentration curl... but do it with your arm hanging freely between your legs (the arm with the weight in it), while you are standing... your free arm can rest on your theigh... it takes alot of the stress off other joints and your "forearm" tendons... as it hits primarily the bicep and cuts out alot of other parts because of the free-hanging form negates any ability for you to cheat! :)

hope that helps... I used to have the same problem. I replaced straight bar curls with the EZ curl bar and after a while the pain went away.
