My fiance has gained weight because of Depro shot. She is 5.7 and statuesque with beautiful long legs, and is basically a size 10,but about a year ago we realized she was putting on weight. Most of it is around her mid-section. She gained a little in her arms also. We're getting married in Aug. and of course she wants to shed the extra pounds. She cant really do a lot of exercise beause she has Chron's disease and had to have colon surgery and she now wears has an illiostomy(can't do any high impact). Ladies I would appreciate your input..........Thank you in advance.

:D :p

You might want to post this in the Women's forum. You will prob get more response there.

Becaue most exercises involve the use of the abdominal wall i would consult your doctor on what machines she can use to help tone.

I can't get you much advice, but...has she consulted with a physical therapy type person to see what she might be able to do? Or her doctor? (Although, doctors don't always know best.)

Is she still on Depro?

A co-worker of mine had a very similiar problem (weigh gain + general all around discomfort) and she switched to the patch with positive changes.

No.She is no longer on Depro, she is on the patch. This now scares me sometimes because it seems every month before or after her cycle (period) she has this chest discomfort.

If by "chest discomfort" you mean tender breasts, don't worry, that's a pretty common PMS symptom. I had it bad when I was younger but pretty much stopped after I had my child.

Aside from exercise, how's her diet? Diet alone CAN make some decent fat loss. With her physical problems she's probably limited as to food choices, but a basic diet of lower healthy carbs (like brown rice and veggies) and fats (no butter, good oils like olive oil for cooking) should help. Cardio (like walking on a treadmill which isn't too strenous) should help her drop a few pounds. She should also drink a lot of water...a gallon or more a day.
