I have been avidly collecting for the last 2 years since I got into BBing. I started with Muscular devlopment, crap, then muscle media, more crap. I tried Muscle and fitness, shit. Oh wow, M&F hers !!! What a cool idea!!!! What a pile of bollocks.

And so to Flex. AAAAAAAAh.

And so, I hope you can all share a moment with me. I have taken the entire lot and thrown them in the bin.

Nuff said. Long live da revolution.

I bought every bodybuilding magazine in print when I first started working out. I learned alot about the sport and was able to figure out what was bullshit and what was the truth. When I threw out my collection I counted the magazines and multiplied by five. I saw alot of money going into the trash that day.

It seems like most magazines are afraid of featuring women with anything more than a hint of deltoid muscle. It's a shame, because I love studying awesome physiques, be they fitness or BB. Athough for myself I prefer a more fitness type physique, I still find the BB's very inspiring.

Oxygen is ok because they have a section with fitness comp pics, but more and more of their articles are featuring softer more mainstream fitness model physiques rather than the more ripped fitness competitor physiques. M&F Hers sometimes has a few pages with actual fitness competitors, but the rest are mostly skinny fat girls in bright stretchy outfits lifting color-coded dumbbells.

Dude I used to have quite a few, I threw them out. When I first started I believed everything in the magazines. It was kind of funny really. Half the stuff in the zines are just trying to sell you crap that you dont need. I hate Muscle Media because I hate Bill phillips and his over priced EAS bullshit. And I think that most, not all, of the magazines are geared for gay males. If you look at most of them they have dudes in skimpy shit, or posing with their pants unbuttoned and underwear showing, shit like that and the people that belive that shit makes me laugh.

Like Lurch said, magazines are just one big advertisement...and the same repeated information every month...have you ever actually read Oxygen? Half of the magazine is an advertisement for Hydroxycut! There are at least 2 or 3 three-page exerts in every Oxygen for Hydroxycut...I say save your money and stick to Elite for your information!

I'm with you guys!!

The advertisements in the magazines these days are getting outrageous!! Those muscle-tech ads are simply ridiculous - and somewhat insulting considering that they try to make them look like legitimate articles.

...but I guess I'm a hypocrite because I still buy the damn things every month...

All those mags are very seductive, you know with the high gloss pictures of beautiful people with great physiques. Almost makes you believe that you can look like that if you do or take what they say. It's crap! Don't even bother with them anymore.

The only magazine that was worth the paper it was printed on was Muscle Media 2000 (when they were hardcore). I have most of the issues from late 1995 through 1997 (the year Bill went soft). I still periodically get them out and read them, they still have better articles than any of today`s magazine`s. I especially liked the articles by coach Poliquin and the late Dan Duchaine.

Elite is cool for some info, but www.t-mag.com is the best replacement for old school MM2000...period.

I stopped taking them seriously when FLEX wrote an article saying thighs respond best to squats when done with extremely heavy weight, and reps between 3-6.

Then the very next month, they featured an article: "Squat to 100 and GROW!!" about doing sets of 100 when squatting. The very next month.
