Female only gyms - good or bad?

What do you think about exclusively female gyms? On one hand I feel more comfortable in such places because there are no dudes staring at me, but they feel kinda less professional. Where do you fellow girls go to - female gyms, or general gyms?

If you dont feel comfortable in a 'normal' gym, go to the ladies one. But then again, sometimes girls clearly dress up in a such manner, that people would be staring at them. So its no surprise that they get all the attention.

A gym is a gym when it really comes down to it. The best gym is the one you feel comfortable training in and that has an environment that you enjoy.

There are a couple gyms in Winnipeg that I LOVE training in but they take me 45 minutes to drive to so that isn't practical.

It's important to think long term. Pick a gym that you enjoy training at, has good owners of operation, has a good atmosphere etc.

I can see it going both ways

Being too self conscious to push hard in front of strangers

Or

Pushing yourself even harder in front of strangers

I guess it depends on what motivates you

I guess there should be no difference - as long as you have all the equipment you need for proper training, it should make no difference whatsoever that there are no guys in the gym. So if you don't like all those stares and the likes, go to a female gym that is well equipped, and you will not be losing anything at all.
