How are ya'll incorporating box jumps into the routine.

Yes we have been messing around with box jumps for a few weeks now and are still trying to figure out what is the best way to use them. We use two diffrent types of jumps. The first is we jump onto the box. Then step off.We do not jump down! The first time we tried this, just about everyone in the gym made it to a 38 inch box. Chuck did it with a green band around his belt and under his feet. Since we have started these John Stafford (at 282 pounds) has made it to a 45 inch box and many others have made 40 inches. I have made a 43 inch box (at 295). My goal is to get to 44 to 45. This is around the same as a hyper machine. I think it would be cool to be able to jump on a hyper machine. I belive Chuck will be the first to get to 50 inches. I belive tilt made 38 at 465 or whatever he weights. We jump this way two days a week. One for 5 sets or 5 reps at 35 to 38 inches and the other day for 3 reps trying to get to a high box. The second way we jump is to place a box squat box infront of the jump box and start in a seated box squat position then jump onto the box in front of us. We use a weighted vest (75 pounds) or hold plates for this. We jump onto a 24 inch box. We only use one or the other jumps. We have found it best to jump on the bench days at the end of the bench training session. We are also looking into using the weight vest with dumbbells for the jumps. You would hold the dumbells at your side and use them to squat down then drop them at the bottom, then jump on the box.
We are still trying to figure out how all this fits in or it it will even help but until then "I want to jump on the damn hyper machine"
Louie has been at work with all this stuff for us and we have been back at the sled very hard. This time for distance with 90 to 135 pounds. By distance I should say time. Twenty minutes has been the average. I have seen louie drag 135 for two miles straight!

I can't jump...lol...NOT. You should have seen the look on bearrito's face when I touched the rim of a 10' 4" goal the other day...AFTER doing legs...and with a very sore back...lol

I was amazed. B Fold does have some hops. I didn't even try for the rim since I can't touch the rim on a 10' goal, :) . I'll get there one day though. Hopefully training with B Fold will add good strength and size to my legs.
 
hehe but those aren't real vertical jumps, since you can bend your legs to get onto the box :)


but still good though considering their weight.
I read somehwere that Serge Redding 5'8" OL who weighs 320lbs or so could jump and land on a gymnastic horse on his knees. Pretty impressive.
