What exactly are farmer's holds, and static holds. I think i know what static holds are, but not quite sure. Maybe someone could explain how to do these techniques with a few exercises. Thanks!

I know what a farmers walk is....

A farmers walk is when you put a big weight in each hand and walk around with it (sometimes they are longer for balance purposes)...

I'm assuming a farmers hold and a static hold would be the same thing....

Put a heavy ass weight in each hand and grip it for as long as you can... or timed...

Don't quote me on the last one... but it just seems logical to me

Thanks

Somewhere, I read about holding a pair of DBs at your sides (while seated or standing) and just holding them until they fell out of your hands. I do this sometimes. I don't know what it's called. Oh wait - they're called "dumbbell hangs" here: http://www.t-mag.com/nation_articles/241bon.jsp

here are some good articles on improving one's grip:

I love farmers :)

And apparently, they love you, too!

I want to try some farmer's walks, but I don't want to anger the gym staff by dropping weights onto the floor. (when I just grip them until I can't anymore, I'm seated, so they only fall a few inches rather than a couple of feet) I think I'll just buy a heavier pair of dbs (heaviest I have here are 20#) and do them on the grass in my apartment complex.
