I have heard all the stories about not being able to lose weight and gain muscle at the same time. But what if you time your calorie intake right. For example, run in the morning and have low calorie intake through the day. And then lift weights in the late afternoon and eat lots of calories before you go to sleep. Wouldnt this work, because you would be burning the fat in the morning and then the muscle would have the calories it needs to build at night when it grows? Does anyone know anything about this theory? Will I build muscle doing this.

Thanks
Curtis

I can only speak from personal experience - but it's hella tough to drop bodyfat and gain muscle simultaneously (especially "unassisted" ahem).

But come on, dropping body mass (fat or otherwise) requires a caloric deficit - and adding mass obviously requires a surplus. I've always made my best progress by focusing on one task at a time (i.e., adding quality mass with a little bit of fat gain - and then dropping bodyfat with as little loss of lean mass as possible).

To be honest without the use of a good dose of anabolics its extrememly to gain muscle and loss fat at the same time (although not impossible).

Your idea sounds good, but I think you might find yourself running in circles.

One idea i've found works well for gaining muscle and loosing fat is something like this:

-Bulk for 2 weeks, Cut for 1 week, Repeat. This way you never really become fat and gain mass more cleanly.

I would say at best it is possible to gain minimal bodyfat and get extremely bigger at the same time. I think something people dont realize that it is fairly easy to drop bodyfat once you learn how. You can drop a lot of BF in 12 weeks so dont worry about getting a little fatter when you bulk.
