Experiences with carb cycling

There is a lot of hype about carb cycling on the forums, but I don't know anyone who did it personally. How effective is it? How much weight can I lose with it in a month? Would be great to shed some kilos of fat that I have...

Carb cycling makes a lot of sense when you think about it.

Most of us eat pretty much the same way every day — similar foods, similar amounts, similar timing. As a result, other than the occasional cheat meal, it would be hard to distinguish one day from another. The problem with this is that if you don’t vary your daily calories, you will end up overfeeding yourself on the rest days or the days you are training light, and at the same time underfeeding yourself on your hardest training days. Luckily, you can get the best of both worlds with carb cycling. With this approach you will fuel your body optimally on your hardest training days, but restrict calories and treat your body as if it's in a cutting phase on the days you don't need the excess energy.

Here is an article I wrote on how to set up a carb cycling diet for fat loss. It contains a full sample meal plan:

Personally, I really like the carb cycling diet because it is not restrictive, and does not eliminate some foods from your diet. Therefore, it is a much healthier alternative, since a balanced diet should have a little bit of everything. Besides, since it does not eliminate any particular foods, it is quite easy to follow, because you can basically eat whatever you want to - just on particular days.

It is indeed a very effective means of staying lean, and keep gaining quality mass.

It is very effective and makes complete sense. If you will be expending a lot of energy on a particular day your body will require more fuel to perform. If you are resting or not performing a lot of activity then your body will not require as much fuel.
