Visceral fat and subcutaneous fat are not the same thing. The first is the kind of fat that lines the inside of your rib cage and wraps around your organs. It's hard to shift and majorly unhealthy. The second is that which is found under the skin.
The best exercise for visceral fat is DIET! There is no such thing as localized fat loss - you lose fat in your entire body in a homogeneous manner. So if you want to lose fat in your belly, you would be much better off doing squats and bench presses - train the larger muscle groups, since they will burn more calories.
