Has anyone noticed or even care that powerlifters always go by the shortest variation of their name or a derivative of tha name. Check out some common names:

Full name followed by Powerlifting name

James
Jim, Jimmy

Louis
Lou, Louie

Edward
Ed, Eddie

Douglas
Doug, Dougie

Jason
Jay

Michael
Mike

Robert
Rob, Bob

David
Dave

Johnathan
John

Kenneth
Ken, Kenny

William
Bill

Actually every powerlifter that know goes by the powerliter version of his name, why?? Except for Anthony Clark.

I know what you are thinking, YES this is a stupid thread (and I didn't even have to abbreviate this sentence).

yes this is a retarted thread..

they all probably get called that cause of nicknames... how many williams do you see everyday as opposed to how many people you call Bill? its just easier if your nameis shorter...

the shorter the name, the less energy expelled while saying the name, which means more energy for lifting.

Anthony Clark? You mean AC? :)
