Energy drinks...do they work? I'm thinking of those small cans like Red Bull, Sobe, Hansen's, etc. There's also those big cans by Hansen that's part energy drink and part thirst quencher. Do they work? Or is it basically just water with sugar and caffeine? Is it a placebo effect?

I would say for the most part yes they work ... But the best ones will have ephedra and/or caffiene ... So if you want the most energy from one of them, and dont mind the caff. get one with these ingredients ... The thirst quencher one sounds like its mostly sugars.. so look at the ingredient list to be sure ...

The big hansens thing is complete crap. A lot of the drinks you will find at places like 7-11 are alright but some are high in sugar. If you do not belong to a commercial gym then I would say to check out your local supplement store and see what they have there. ABB, Worldwide and a few other companies make some pretty good drinks, ABB ripped force and extreme ripped force are my personal favorites(taste good and i can normally feel them work a bit).

Too much sugar in the Red bulls or Sobes, go with something by ABB, they get the blood pumping. KMX is great with vodka though.

Try the speedstack from ABB, it tastes pretty good and gets you moving.:)
