Drugs in drug-free and tested events

For you does a tested competition only mean that you have to figure out how to beat the test? Or does it mean that the competition is for those who choose to not do drugs?

Aren't there plenty of untested competitions for drug using competitors?

There should be a place for natural athletes, shouldn't there?

Do you view a "tested" event differently than an event called a "natural" event?

Discuss.

I'll use the event I'm doing in April as an example

They test you (urine test), then they do polygraph and ask if you've done them in the past 5 years. I don't FULLY agree with it, I mean in my opinion as long as someone is clean for, let's say, a year, or however long it takes to clean their system, and they're no longer taking anything, I believe they should be fine...because once steroids leave your system, they're no longer helping you.

A lot of the competitors in tested events look natural (and, I'm sorry, like shit), then there are the ones who are clean and look awesome because they busted ass with diet knowing they didn't have roids to help them, and then there are the ones that somehow beat the system.

With that said honestly I don't feel like tested events are fool-proof by any means

I guess the point I was trying to make is that if you take drugs and beat someone who was natural, you haven't accomplished anything. Its chickenshit to get some kind of ego boost by cheating to win.

People who want to accomplish as much as they can the natural way should be given credit for that, and be left alone to compete fairly with others who want the same.

I disagree that 1 year clean is the same as 5 years clean. If the competition requires a promise (and polygraph) that you are 5 years clean, then it is the honorable thing to do to go by that rule.

I appreciate your answer psizzle. I think it is sad that drug free events have drug users in them. I suppose part of the justification is that people assume the competition is doing it, so they think they have to also.

That, or maybe they've given up the juice. So because they did it several years ago and don't have assistance from them now automatically bans them to only compete in untested events? I don't find that very fair, in the grand scheme of things, as I said, when the juice is out of your system, it's no longer helping you. Say a guy is huge from roids, gives it up, several years later he's a fat ass with barely any muscle...decides to get his body back, but do it the natural way, and ends up wanting to compete. You're saying he should only be allowed to go to untested events? That isn't fair.

I don't think it's fair either. But I think the polygraph method, combined with a drug test is an ok system though. A contest can specify that they want people who are at least 1 year clean or 5 years clean, etc.

A guy or girl could be in good shape naturally, juice his/her ass off for a year, gain tons of strength and size, and then go off for a year but still train hard, and be way ahead of where he or she would be if he/she never did the drugs.

I have been thinking about this more, and I think there is a lack of clarity with what is expected in a tested meet. Maybe it is fair to assume that all you need to do is pass the test.
But if they specify 5 years clean or something like that, I think people should honor that.

It's definitely an issue that gets heated. I can tell you, from working backstage at many contests over the years, there are VERY strong opinions in the natty world about this. I think a lot of organizations lay the rules out pretty clearly. But it still comes down to the individual.
