Well guy we always talk about what to take when how many and all that but do you really need the roids? I know guys from years that don't take roids and they have a good body ,training and eating right so steroids are really necessary?

You answered your own question.

It is valid to say, however, that certian a.a.s *are* necessary for some people to maintain a normal sense of well-being and fitness; this is where HRT comes into play...And for those people who don't qualify for HRT but want to go beyond their genetic boundaries, steroids are the medium to break beyond those barriers.

IMHO They are only needed to get past your bodys own natural potential. The only problem with that is most people dont want to wait to build the body of their dreams naturally. Instead they want it now. Which is why we have so many 18-20 year old males asking about cycles instead of asking about THE PERFECT DIET :Chef:

Great points Bro K to you

I think that steroids are only necessary if you want to compete. you can have a good body training right and eating...well i just had 2 peanut butter banana and honey sandwich jajaja

No they are NOT.

Steroids are NOT necessary to build a great body.

Steroids CAN be used to grow past genetic limitations OR to just speed up the overall progress. It speeds up the rate at which progress is made giving you quicker results. BUT they are not totally necessary or required to make progress...

yuup...depends on your goals.
for some people, their genetics suck for weight lifting and packing on muscle...thats why people might take steroids, to overcome their body's natural potential.

however, i have many friends who can pack muscle on without the use of steroids due to genetics.

There is a huge genetic component to the amount of muscle you will be able to carry naturally.

The biggest guys I know lifted naturally well into their 30s before doing a cycle, and they do very few cycles (like one course a year).

You may be able to put muscle on faster, but if you exceed your bodies natural homeostasis, it will be difficult to maintain.

If you don't have your diet or training (in particular consistency and intensity) sorted, you will also quickly lose any gains you made while on a cycle.

I know a lot of nattie competitive bodybuilders that are just naturally big guys, and then they bust their butts to get even bigger.

Most people have a hard time that it is possible achieving that type of big and ripped body without steroids, mostly people who have never figured out how intensely you have to train, or what type of healthy eating works for them.

depends on ppls goals and body. Me personally, I could be big muscular and toned all naturally. But to get past my genetic potential where I am no wouldn't have happened without my gear.

I myself wouldn't use gear if I wasn't planning on competing again.
So the answer would be yes and no like a few posts have mentioned. If you are competing and want to do really well then the answer is yes. imo

well....define "great"
If by great you mean: shredded, muscular, shizeled and non-human like HUGE, then yes...you do....

It depends on the look you want and even your age. If you want a model/movie star type body, then no. If you want to be beyond that, then yes. Especially if you are older. HRT is always an option at that point. There are also a lot of great legal supps out there these days like glutamine peptides, amplify, dermacrine, yohimburn, etc. They all can help you build a great body.

Also remember though, that I am the type of person that thinks if you don't have the end goal of being ultra big and ripped or are in need of hrt, then I don't think the person needs to or should be taking gear.

They help.

The problem is, they may do a more than anything else beyond training, but they carry the biggest risk. So they can be a part of the equation yet must be used in moderation. Seems like a simple enough approach. Yet, 20 years after they've become "mainstream" they are still misunderstood and misused. They are a tool, not a crutch.

Lots of things help, which are all health enhancing, most importantly different training techniques, proper supplemntation and a good diet. Balance these out with steroids and you get the optimum benefit with the minimal risks.

Agreed. Another problem is younger people or those new to working out haven't yet had the time to really learn how to train properly. It takes more than a couple years to actually master the techniques and mind-body perfomance. This ties into what Nelson was saying about greater chances of injury.

the word "steroids" encompass's a bunch of different compounds... My personal experience... worked out consistently for 5-6 years with good diet... only managed to get sore.. not much muscle gain... ran 1st cycle of 250mg test 2x week... AMAZING the results! 20lbs of muscle. I realized my levels had been down around my ankles those 5-6 years and I was spinning my wheels... I am now on TRT (steroids? not really)... But my point is I couldn't do it naturally, because I had a deficiency.
