Difference between Olympic power lifters and powerlifters

Whats the difference in these two? I notice in the Olympics there all super young compared to the professional powerlifters.
Are Olympic powerlifters still amateurs?
Why arn't there any records in the clean and jerk outside of the Olympics, like mariuz would easily beat any of the olympic records in clean in jerk if he wanted.
 
There is no such thing as Olympic power lifting. There is Olympic lifting and powerlifting. They are 2 different sports. And Marius was a strongman competitor which is an entirely different sport. Olympic lifters that compete in the Olympics are not armatures they are the best in the world at oly lifting.

Who is stronger, a powerlifter or Olympic lifters?

They are both strong but they are strong at different things. Oly lifters excel at the clean and jerk and the snatch. Pl excel at the bench, sq, and dl. They both have solid bases of strength but they specialize in those lifts. So there really isn't a way to say who is the strongest out of them. If your a new lifter and are wanting to pursue one I suggest trying both and see what you like best. I never liked oly lifting personally and fell in love with pl. I also want to be big so I add in bodybuilding type training along with exercise to build strength.

Depending what you consider strong then a powerlifter. Who's more powerful; an olympic lifter.

well its not that eazy to beat record of any other game , they both are different .. you can say WL also go with power lifting like doing squats bench with close grip , dead lift which is little bit change in style and called clean n snatch pulls .
 
why are olympic lifters younger than powerlifters/strongman who are usually 30-40

There not. There are power lifters that are young. I've seen 8 year old kids compete in power lifting meets. But I do see where you could get that impression with oly lifters. For some reason the Olympic caliber lifters seem to peak earlier. Maybe it's because of the toll on the body that oly training causes. They train multiple times a day and that will certainly beat you down over the years. Most older people can't heal as fast and injuries would halt all progress. In powerlifting there is a big strain on the body but we have supportive gear to increase longevity. We also don't train as often and the type of training is different. Oly lifting is very stressful and IMO can be quite dangerous if your technique isn't great. Oly lifting is all about technique and explosiveness. This can be improved without gaining a ton of strength. In powerlifting the only way to progress is to get stronger. Strength takes a lot longer to develop then technique. That's why the best power lifters are the ones who have been training for 15+ years and are usually in their late 20's and 30's. some do stay at the top in their 40's but with age comes a decline in strength.
