Diets

Alright: I need a diet, that I can stick to. I am about 30 lbs over weight and with 46% bodyfat whatever that means. So HELP!:bawling:

Pretty well any diet where you reduce maintenance calories by 500 calories per day will work. The sticking to it part is up to you. I had good success with a ketogenic diet. Many find an Iso-caloric diet works great (1/3 pro, 1/3 carbs, 1/3 fat). A few things to consider: High carb/low calorie diets tend to waste muscle. Protein rich/low calorie diets are muscle sparing (approx 1g per/lb of body weight), especially when combined with weight training. I read the diet industry in North America was worth $27 billion last year. Yet, 95% of all dieters gain the weight back (many gain extra). A number of studies have shown that a major factor among the 5% of dieters who kept their weight off was they continued their exercise programs when they went back to eating. Almost all dieters will eat again. I do not know what you have tried in the past, but I would suggest an iso-cal diet or similar before you try the keto.
Good luck.

What exactly are you eating right now?? How tall are you and do you lift weights, do cardio etc??? There are several diets out there, I can help you with a sensible one that you should be able to stick too, progress will come but not over night, and you have to set realistic goals and take it one day at a time.....You have to discipline yourself and put 100% effort into, or nothing will work, training hard and doing cardio will help the fat to drop! email me:)

I just gotta laugh everytime I hear somone say I lost weight on that diet but I gained it all back when I got off of it. NO SHIT! People starve themselves and slow their metabolism to the point that 1200 cals. per day can cause weight gain and then they go back to eating two huge meals of crap a day. What the heck do they expect. There is no diet in the world that will take weight off an keep it off when you go back to eating like a pig. A good diet is one that changes your eating habits for life not for a month.

I have found that the best thing to do when you come off a diet is to continue eating 5-6 clean meals a day. Yes expect a bit of initial weight gain as your metabolism has been slowed back and will take a little while to get back to where it was. As far as an initial diet I had great success with the keto diet. I have come off of it for a week now and will start it again monday (I've got about 15lbs to go). You may want to get the Atkins diet book. If you follow it, it will show you how to ease back to eating a maintenance diet that you can enjoy and keep the weight off.

Sorry about the first paragraph but some people really are funny.

Not necessarly refering to anyone on here, just people in general. Mother-in-law, uncle, friends you know the ones that have no dedication don't exercise at all. when you mentioned the 95% of all dieters gained their weight back it made me think of these people. When I started my low carb diet my mother in law said "I did that one but all the weight came right back and I gained even more".

The low carb diet may be the worst diet there is for rebound fat gains. People get used to eating all that fat and then they get off the diet and start eating carbs like they used to and subconciously think that the high fat foods are good for weight loss so they eat both carbs and fat and I think everyone knows this = thick skin.

Your family and friends sound a lot like mine. Although, I am the only one to maintain my fat loss, no one seems to want to hear that clean eating, an exercise program combining weight training and moderate aerobics (for life) is essential to maintaining good health. I think it you have it right when you mentioned dedication. Unfortunately, that runs counter to our societies quick fix mentality.
