diet tracking software

OK, first off, a little background. I try to keep this brief...

It's always been kind of a nuisance for me to track/plan my diet/daily cals. A few summers ago I was using pencil and paper. That was pain because I had to manually add up all the numbers and do all the math myself. This summer I started using Excel to plan my meals, which really helped a lot. It would do the math for me, but it was still kind of a pain to enter all the info.

So I talked to a buddy of mine who's got a bachelors degree in computer science. I pitched the idea of writing a program that would help people plan/track their diets and above all, be extremely user friendly. He's excited about the possiblity and can't wait to get started.

I've already started to kind of get an idea of how it would work... basically the user would input their height, weight, etc and the program would spit out their BMR. From there, they can decide how to modify it (add/subtract cals), determine their macro split, how many meals they want to eat in a day, etc... from there, it would set up a calender for the user to start inputting foods for each day/meal... it'd have a built in database of foods (which the user could modify to add his/her own foods).

My big thing is I want it to be simple and fast. A few clicks and you've setup your meal and the program tells you the calories, p/c/f, etc...

Anyhoo, thanks for reading. That's pretty much the jist of it. Would anyone here be interested in something like that? Any recommendations for features?

Thanks,
Brian

Yeah, I knew someone would bring that up. I've used Fitday, but only very slightly. The nice thing about it is the huge database of food... which I think is going to be our biggest problem.
