Determining Your Bloating

Hi Ladies,

I know this may sound silly buttttt how do you know your bloating? What are some signes of water retention?

Thanks CC:D

Front pooch I would imagine...and having rings fit tighter....also - if you start leaking thru your piercings - you are probably holding a smidge of h2O.

Thanks Corn Ummm piercings LOL hummm very interesting I go ringless sooooo
If any of you ladies have other symptoms I would appreciate it.

Thanks CC :D

Waistband and ring tightness are the main clues. In extreme cases, puffy face and/or ankles.

A timely thread. I'm in my 2nd month of taking the Pill and I think I'm bloating -- big ole belly all the time! Even bigger than usual, that is... ;) Gonna try on my rings to see what's what.

When I look in the mirror and think, "MY GOD - who do those puffy sunken eyes belong to?"

It's an all over *big* feeling, your fingers feel fat, your feet are puffy and sensitive and well, there's the all over feeling of *yuckiness* and *blah*.

Actually - I kinda feel like that right now.

:bawling: :bawling:

I wonder if the waistline is just where most people 'feel' the bloat. Thighs and arms might be swollen too, but not to the point where clothes feel uncomfortable.

My belly swells when I have PMS, but I think that's also, uh, intestinal. On a related note, was also thinking that it may be my GIRD that has swollen my middle recently (the rings fit!). Either that or -- I'm putting on weight! But naw, that can't be it! These pants just shrunk in the dryer.... :bawling:

MS actually said that most fluid retention is interstitial (outside of the muscle) and in plasma volume. The best way to tell is to weigh yourself every day and if you gain several pounds in a matter of days, you can be sure it's "bloat". But then again I recommend you stay away from the scales! Like spats said, if I want to know my true, non-bloated body weight and size, I cut carbs and sodium for a few days before measuring anything. It's the only way I can be sure. Otherwise I don't know or care if I'm bloated. Bloat is goooooood unless you're about to step on a BB stage or go for a photo shoot!

MS that's true because I tried that I gained like 3-4 pounds in like 1 day soooo it's true and it's the week before my friend visits...
I am experiencing some of the symptoms described here so at least I know my suspicion was correct.

Thanks Ladies :D

Ha ha - I was gonna ask this exact same question today - I've gained about 5kgs since last Sunday - post comp, and my legs, particularly ankles, have swollen up like giant water balloons - it's friggin' gross! Not to mention uncomfortable - I can actually feel the skin stretching taut across the bloat underneath, eugh! I think it's the huge amont of food, mostly carbs, and not doing any exercise at all ...

It got so icky though that I was compelled, despite promising myself I wouldn't do anything for 10 days, to get on my bike this morning and go for a ride. That was actually nice.

Um, MS, if you're still reading, or anyone else who's had this prob post-comp - what do you actually DO about the nasty swollen ankles? I put my feet up in the air last night for a while, and then soaked them in iced water, and went for my ride today. And, well, I'm slowly lowering the superphysiological levels of carbs I've been eating ...

Are these the right steps?
