Deperately seeking shoulders ?

hi all.

A few weeks back I was complaining that I couldn't lift over 10 lbs. for side raises. I can do 12 lbs now, whoopee !!! even that's a struggle. big deal. but I'm so disappointed.

I can now finally do 25-30 lbs for front raises & presses, only 10 lbs for rear delts.

So what I am looking for is an increase in mass especially the top of shoulders and the sides ? I use dumbells & a barbell. I don't belong to a gym !!!

Any advice ?

Thanks

You aren't going to see results overnight, you have to give it some time. Be careful not to injure yourself, because a shoulder injury is something you DEFINIATELY don't want!!!

Mass comes from eating well (high protein) and lifting VERY heavy. It also takes A LOT of time. Building a noticeable amount of muscle can take years. And this is assuming a good diet and consistent training. Oh, and don't discount genetics!

Shoulders are not easy to build and genetics do have a role as the potential shape.

Keep up at what you're doing, train hard, try a a variety of exercises, get proper rest and the results will slowly follow.

Shoulders lag for me too, last to come in and first to go.

Then u got ones like me, broad shoulders, defined back and no boobs :P

At a club this guy was admiring my chest.. i looked at him and said, when i comehome, these babies come off, pushup padded.. (myn aren't that small, but it made him feel silly)

Depending on genetics, shoulders can be very hard to build. As far as going for heavy lifts, please listen to your body and don't start lifting heavier than you are prepared for. There are so many ways you can screw up your shoulders by lifting too heavy or with bad form. Particularly rotator cuff.

As far as lifts for front & side raises, if it does anything for ya, I don't go over 15-20 lbs for those. Usually 3 sets of 15. For those moves where too much weight just hurts, you can focus on doign excellent form during very intense sets. If you over do, you will pay later with rotator cuff problems, tendonitis, etc.

Shoulders.

Muscular and shapely shoulders look amazing on the female body.

They also take time, dedication, and will power to build.
"Rome was not built in a day." This adage definitely applies.

Just keep doing what you are doing. Be sure to give your shoulders enough of a workout...AND enough rest time!!!

Just so you know, I do side raises with 15lbs. Front raises with 15lbs. FOR REPS.

I achieved MOST of my shoulder musculature from straight dumbell presses. (I go HEAVY for those). In my opinion, they are the muscle builders.

Good luck and be patient!

Thank you all.

I will just keep lifting and eating my protein.

most of all I will try to be more patient & wait for results to come.

After all, I've only been lifting heavy for 6 weeks.

PS: BTW, what do OH presses build ? the top, front, or sides of shoulders ?
I really don't know this ?

Thanks !

Overhead presses build the shoulder muscles. They are wonderful for complete shoulder exhaustion.

OH Presses will focus MOSTLY on the Anterior Delt (front) and the Medial Delt (middle). But, like K said, it is good for total shoulder development though, so the Posterior Delt (back) gets some work too.
