deodorizing leather shoes

so you walk around with no socks on... getting those new leather shoes beat up with a funky foot odor smell.

Rather than selling them to Jh1, you decide to try to salvage them.

So how you go about cleaning the interior of those shoes to kill the odor?

P.S. I am just asking this for a friend. yeah, that's it.

gasoline and a match. . .works everytime. . .tends to fuck up the shoes though :whatever:

should I remove them first?

I'm not so sure it is possible, because the smell is actually caused by the bacteria that are living off the prespiration/skin cells.

If you discarded the innersole, sprinkled the shoes really liberally with baking soda, let them dry out REALLY well (like sit for a week with the baking soda in them) and put in an entirely new innersole maybe that would substantially reduce the odor.

I bet rubbing alchohol poured inside them would kill your bugOfootfungus and not
mess up the leather too badly

Or maybe you could toss them in the microwave for a while, as long as you take
off the gay gold tassles..

a couple of sites said sprinkle with baking soda and then freeze them..????

Stilleto knows how to get pee stains off leather couches so maybe she can help. Especially if you try peeing on your shoes to kill the bacteria.

Cheers,
Scotsman

Good question. I just use a shitload of foot powder deodorant once a week or so. Seems to keep the smell at bay.
