Deer protects baby from dog and cat

Poor dog so uncool, I know it was trying to protect it's baby but the dog didnt even bark at it, if it where my dog I'd beat the crap out of the deer to keep it away, that dog seemed to be hurt petty badly....

I can't view the vid right now...can someone explain to me what exactly the cat was doing? I mean the baby alone is bigger than it let alone the mother. I've never seen a cat that would mix it up with an animal that large unless it was getting attacked by it.
that cat was just trying to play. It was ovbious , I've had tons of cats - but it wasnt the cat that got pwnd, it was the dog wandering by that was minding his own bizness... poor dog

ok finally saw the vid.....that cat is who got that dog rolled. That cat was not "playing"....it was exhibiting stalking behavior but it just didn't know how to seal the deal otherwise that baby deer would have been dead. If you watch wild cats stalk baby animals with their mother around you'll see I'm right. It was the cat that had the deer agitated and made it snap on the dog. Poor guy looked like he was licking his balls right before he was like "hey, who's this?". Damn...

after the dog pissed the momma dear off, then the cat caught the wrath

I agree it was the cat that had the momma deer all riled up but I still believe the cat was just trying to play. When he bit the deer it was a playing bite, he wasnt using his full jaw he was just nawing on it a little like a cat does in play with another cat. The cat was still curious at the end, but if the cat wanted to kill the baby deer, he would have in the beginning. He gave up when the baby deer wouldnt play back. He was obviously still curious at the end of the vid though

I grew up with a couple ridiculously bad ass siamese that were master hunters. Watching them stalk in the yard were some of the highlights of my youth, utterly hysterical. The cat in the vid was not a honed hunter....it looks like it's "playing" but in fact it's how other baby predators react the first time their mothers bring them a wild animal that she hasn't killed yet. The animals play fight with the baby until they finally catch on that they need to go for the killshot to the throat. If that were one of my old cats that baby deer "might" have been killed..not sure cause it was still pretty big compared to the cat. But momma caught on to the vibe being given off by the cat and that's what got the dog curbed.

not at the end, that cat was stalking for a pounce. Watching the mother and advancing when her attention was pointed somewhere else. Even though I love cats I wish it would have been the cat not the dog that got checked. The poor guy was in the middle of practicing good hygiene on his balls'n ass when he got jumped......just sucks.

Ya, all of that happened in Cranbrook BC, about 1.5 hrs form here... Like I daid before... deer here are like freaking flies... Kajillions of them...
That dog looked like a Aussy Shepperd.... If that was my dog that deer would be dead,sadly and the ppl on the street tramatized by the whole event.... My dog love my family and absolutly hates everyone and everything else!

This is true... A deer can easily screw you up if not kill you.. And that Mama was a Mule Deer.. They are bigger then White Tail..

Actually, the cat was just fascinated by the way the baby deer smelled. It's intentions were neither play nor harm. If I knew for a fact it was a female cat I'd say it was trying to mommy the thing.
Interesting that the mother deer was fine with the cat until her protective instincts kicked in at the sight of the dog, then she was basically in a maternal rage. Props to kittie for holding her ground and getting in a swipe before hightailing it
