Decline skullcrushers vs flat skullcrushers

are decline skullcrushers just as effective as flat bench skull crushers? I ask b/c i do decline since doing them flat kills my elbow.

I prefer decline skull crunchers,myself

I feel the decline puts more stress on my my triceps, and I definitely feel a better pump

personally i prefer standing tri ext's
i feel it much in my tris, where as using a bench if feels more shoulder'ish

i definatly do both, usually alternate on different weeks

I do them blid-folded. This shocks the muscles.

Why do them in the first place? What's wrong w/ CG Bench, or Tate Presses if you have to do isolation work?

decline scull crushers? Can you do more weight than flat bench? Think I'm gonna give them a try.

i actually prefer incline...the only way for me to perform the exercise with zero stress on my elbows

i like to do them standing on a stability ball wearing some tights and a jockstrap only..
it really shocks the ladies... and men :P

i would think decline is harder and incline would be easiest because it would tend to fall forward relieving the weight

and decline would fall back towards your head but pushing it back to the start position would seem to be harder because of the resistance

Me too, flat and decline skullcrushers messed up my joints a few years back. Well, those and winny. :(

Lay on the floor do skulls - touch bridge of your nose....... Next set
" " " " - top of forehead, or to the floor, constant force don't ease up.
Come down slow. And explode up. Be sure to do a full lock out, and squeeze tri's... this way, you get a short and long extention. Heavy. Heavy. Heavy.

Hey Bro; What's a Tate Press? I'm guessing it was developed by Dave Tate, but I have no idea what it is.
When I did skullcrushers I prefered declines because it's much easier to get the weight into the proper position. Now I avoid all variations of tricep extensions because they kill my elbows. They're healthy now, and I want to keep them that way.

I do both. I like to do skullcrushers on an adjustable bench, and I'll put the backrest one notch below straight up and down w/EZ bar.

Never tried incline, I usually stick w/ the cables for them due to the stress on my elbows.
For those that have done both do you find that decline puts less or more stress on the elbows?

Never mind. I found out what a Tate Press is:

They hurt my elbows too.

keep your wrists completely straight through the whole movement and that will fix the problem, i also had that problem till i noticed my form was wrong.

I personally just go behind the head on an incline... gotta stand though and just lean back on it... I get more range of motion than on skull crushers, then cable extensions... all after weighted dips. then my tri's are toast!! sometimes I even skip the cable extensions as they are already finished by then!! depending on how many sets I do on the incline tri extension... btw when I do those I just take one dumbell... usually start at 60 and work my way up to 110... the highest my gym has (which is really right close to all I need, though I could go a bit more... but not too much) an then work my way back down.

less stress on my elbows, easier to maintain form, easier to get teh weight into position when by yourself, constant tension on my tri's from decline.

I found that on flat i was still having to keep the same angle to keep tension on my tri's. i have to bring the weight down behind my head and keep my upper arm angled back slightly or they want to relax. i also don't have to use as much weight this way. which has to be a plus on the elbows.

Thanks, I'll have to give them a try.
