cutting or bulking?

I've been training for about a year and a half on and off, when i started at 19 yrs old i was really skinny about 155 pounds 6'0 feet. now i'm about 178 pounds with 20% bodyfat. when i first started i was eating everything, as i thought because i am an ectomorph i didn't need to worry too much about my bodyfat. now i really dont know what to do, should i put on more weight first then cut or should i cut the now before my bodyfat gets any higher.
Any suggestions anyone?
 
id say start cutting slowly like dont complete destroy your diet and drop the calories a ton but enough that over a few months ull be down to a 14-16% range... but i guess it all depends on your time frame and goals? what are they?
 
if you havent tried cutting before maybe u should take 2 months now and test out a diet and see how your body responds to it so this time next year even if u dont hit your 190 mark when it comes time to cut u know what u will need to do to see the results. also it would give you a time line of how long it would take to love 6-10% bf and how quickly..

or you could continue to bulk up hit 200lbs and then cut from there but who knows what % bf you will be at by then and how much of it will actually be muscle. you might be 190 and 20% bf come april and have 3 months to lose 10% bf. that sounds like alot of work to me especially if this is your 1st cut
