Crossy`s 2nd Log: Bigger Starrs 5 X 5

lol at splitting your pants. After splitting a pair of shorts whilst squatting, I did the next workout in an identical pair and split those too.

Luckly there was only 2 people right next to me on the other squat rack and he looked over and smiled at his m8, he then went on to do his 4" squats. Would have died if ripped really loud as the gym was full. Guess i will be getting some baggier bottoms :)

Sounds like your quads and glutes are getting bigger bro... which means you're reaching your goals.

My dress pants are starting to look like chick pants because of the tightness in the thighs.

Good problems to have.

yeah i noticed in my jeans are getting tighter round my legs (also my waist :worried: ) or maybe its just my ass getting bigger.

Ok this is the last week before i deload and today i was lifting for one of my goals i set when i started this run of the 5 X 5, 9 weeks ago (a 300lb dead). My last set of deads i lost grip on rep 2, i reset and lifted for 5 again, last rep was hard as my grip was slipping again and my form on the last rep was off slightly as my back curved but it went up. Had abs to do after i barely finished them i was that fucked. Weighed in and i have put 14lb on in 9-10 weeks planned on about 9lb so abit more than i wanted really.

Week 9 Day 2

Squat:

5 X 99
5 X 125
5 X 154
5 X 154

Military Press:

5 X 60
5 X 77
5 X 88
5 X 99 assisted on last 3 reps

Dead Lifts:

5 X 187
5 X 225
5 X 265
2 X 302 grip slipped, but there was noway i was going home without my PR
5 X 302 PR

Assistance:

3 X 12 Needsize Abs

Thanks m8

Nha i still didnt get any chalk i should though. As for the deload im gonna drop 10% and work back up at 2.5% a week from there. I decided im gonna cut after next week, i started at high BF% anyway and its to high for my liking at the min.

I will setup a new diet and just eat a few more carbs on workout days to help with energy levels and less on cardio days which i will introduce 2 times a week (HIIT and Swimming). I looked at carb cycling but it dosent suit my workouts and im pretty sure i would struggle with some of my workouts on the Fibrous Carbohydrate days energy wise especially when pulling for PR`s. Im off for a week next week so i have abit of time to sort this out.

Congrats on hitting a goal, & setting the PR. :jump: Feels good, doesn't it?

Thanks bro

It does m8 i have pretty much hit every goal i aimed for when i started this log, which i am happy about. Maybe BF% is abit higher than i had hoped for. I am defo gonna miss the amount of food when i cut though i have become acustom to it :chomp:. I have around 4-5 months to get lean which i havent been since about 18 years old, so this is gonna be hard work.

yeah for me i have put weight on and i can see more BF i didnt plan on doing a big bulk 12-13 weeks is long enough for me this time round. I considered doing maintenance but coming from such a fatty not so long ago this added fat is starting to way on my mind a little, gay i know but i think a cut is good for me at this point.

:)

Still not had chance to make another log yet. Started back at the gym yesterday after about 12 days off i deloaded 10% my last set of squats i only managed 3 reps felt like someone was hitting me in the legs with a bat. Teach me to have that long off :) Its the first time in a while that i felt physically sick leaving the gym.

:) I am right there with you so we can do the hard work together! Letting the cutting begin! and get your ass to the gym more

:) thanks hun

Well i went again yesterday and again struggled and nearlly thew up. Im guessing its the massive decrease in cals nearlly half. Im upping them (slightly) on training days for a few weeks then decrease gradually each week until im around 2000-22000.

Can already see a diffrence with bloat etc with not eating as much. Im actually looking forward to this cut :)

cutting cals in half and then saying gradual don't go together:) Take your time with it, you'll retain more strength that way.

Dieting is like being in a shootout with your fat self, you can't use all your bullets too soon or you'll be in trouble.

do you mean your bloating from not eating as much or the bloating is going down?

yeah should have explained better. I meant i already cut the cals in half and am struggling with my lifts even though i deloaded 10%. So i am increasing cals to around maintenance from what i am on now and will decrease them gradually over the next few weeks.

CK: I am not as bloated now as i have been for the past few months.

New log next week, everything abit up in the air at the min. My stengh has depleted a fair bit im struggling with pretty much all my lifts even with the 10% deload (week 1 of this run) I thought i may lose some strength but nowhere near as much as this.

So i am going to go back a full 9 weeks (where i started in this log) and start from there again. Hurt my lower back tonight doing deads so pretty pissed about that. Weighed myself on monday just gone and have lost 7lb in 8 days wtf is that about, i was expecting some water weight but 7lb in a week!

Going to have higher carb days on training days and very little carbs on non training days (cardio days) and 1 cheat meal a week. I am hoping this will give me more energy on lifts and then the cardio days to burn of any excess cals. Good idea? or not?

Thanks

been a lazy bastard lately. Still havent managed to get my gym time in correctly due to other stuff. Losing weoght but still look very soft, havent done a friday workout in about 3 weeks, time to shape my arse up and get motivated. Next week new log, workouts on time and sort my diet.

Anyhow, hope you are doing well hun, i have not been around alot lately had alot of shit on, had my final written exam, passed that (not to happy with the % though, 70% is what i got). Thinking of taking up a part time (night school) nutrition course or something along those lines incase this carpenter shit dont work out.

Look at it this way.. you needed some time to mentally recuperate and your body needed time to heal all those little aches and pains that have been creeping up. No big deal. Next week is a new week and one step closer to a new you, think positive.

As for the carpenter thing or the nutrition thing... I'm sure you are 110% capable of being as good a carpenter as there exists if you are determined to be that. One test doesn't mean shit. Just find what you love and get paid to do it.

I just got a 41 on my calculus midterm. I will not be getting my degree in quantum physics, I've officially decided :)

Just my .02 here. This is critical for long term happiness. No matter what else you do in life, if you are unhappy at your main career, the rest of your life will suffer. Believe it.

Thansk bro. My problem with regards with the gym is that i didnt expect such a drop in strength i have had to drop to week 3 of the last run, around 20lbs lighter than my previous best a few weeks before. My strength has depeleted alot and its been abit weird as its my first cut afte a bulk and dropping from around 205 squat to struggling with a 155lb squat its really frustrating, but as always im commited to wrkingths out and if it meens dropping my lifts then so be it, i have till summer to meet my goal july/august. I really think that not having a log on here as discouraged me somewhat so that will be sorted next week.

With the job situation, carpentry is pretty good i just like to keep my options open to other things incase things go tits up.

I'm gonna tell you this... strength should not decrease 50 pounds on a lift after cutting for three weeks. Period. Especially if you drop your cals appropriately, are eating first thing upon waking, before you go to bed, and getting in good pre & post workout nutrition.

I think it's part psychological, part diet flaw... you aren't 55 pounds weaker after a few weeks man, IMHO.

There is more to it than that. I should have explained better.

Basically after my last week of bulk i went away for a break for 1 week. I came back and started cutting dropping my cals from 3500-4000 to around 2000-2400, you have to forgive my lack of knowledge in this department as i have only cut once and bulked once and then going back to a cut i thought i could do what i did the first time round, but obviously i should have had a few weeks maintenace cals rather than drop 2000 cals and expect to lift the same weight. This is basically where i am up to, i need to sort it by monday, supirsingly my weakest lifts have stayed roughly the same bench, rows my dead i managed ok yesterday (280lb ish) but i ate alot better during that day. I probably will go over to the diet section and see about eating high carbs on training days and a small amount of carbs on cardio/non training days and how this will affect my cutting etc......

On the extremely bright side... You know know what you are easily capable of. Getting back to those 5rms will be a piece of cake because YOU KNOW FOR A FACT its just a matter of caloric intake. You've done those weights, you own them, don't fear them. I have that tendency too. Getting back there is gonna be a piece of cake when its time to bulk, and you're gonna blast way past 'em. ALL THE REASON TO BE DEDICATED TO THE CUT. The sooner you reach your goal, the sooner you get back to business.
