dude what are you talking about deadlifts are out of the question? throw a bar on the floor and get down to business. smith machine? you should probably leave it open so the chics can do squats.

curious - why shrugs on the smith machine? Is it a matter of being able to shrug more than you can pick up from the floor? Not judging you, I can't shrug 230#. I'm wondering...
 
I'd do everything I could do without the smith machine. You can do barbell rows if they have a bar... and you can do deadlifts from the floor (it's how I do them anyway) :)

Also, shrugs, I"d probably do them with dumbbells (if yours don't go high enough, use the barbell)

dumbels only go up to 50 in the gym. Barbells only go up to 100 (non olympic bar). on the shrugs i set the "safety bumpers" a little over knee height so it is only a little movement to get it in position. its very hard to hold on without wraps "callous city"
