CKD Results

Hi Vulgar,

Like I said, I just started on Thursday. Today is only day 3 for me. I am probably not your best source of info. If you go to MassMonsters and read the CKD manual, there is a whole bunch of info on training. I am not following that only because for one I can't wake up in the AM and do cardio. I have tried and I am just too tired. I have kept up my training as usual since Thursday. According to MR. X you are suppose to do a 2 day split. If I did this I would not be able to work out with my husband and I don't want to give that up. That's our quality time together.

Thurs Day 1-did shoulders. It was rough, but I made it through. 30 min cardio
Friday Day 2-Legs! Had a great WO. 30 min of cardio
Don't know what is planned for today.

I definetly notice a lack of strength and I am constantly tired, but I keep telling myself that it's only for 5 or so weeks and then I'll be okay.

The CKD worksheet Mr.X created is great. So is fitday.com. It's basically dummy proof. I already have my whole week planned.

I hope this helps you even if it's just a little.

Also someting I was wondering about....I say you had coffee on there. Havent I read somewhere that caffiene will mess with ketosis due to it altering insulin uptake or something?

Coffee does no such thing....it's a myth that was started a while back by health freaks that didn't want people to drink coffee. The only thing I've seen in studies is that caffeine reduces insulin sensitivity but on a MINOR scale - nothing major at all. As Flexygrl pointed out about the Dr. Pepper, it's the carbonation and artificial sweeteners that kick you out of ketosis, not the caffeine part - not usually that is. As far as cream in coffee, as long as it's reasonably under 5g carbs, you'll be fine.

I drink at least 2 cups every morning with heavy cream while on CKD and it has never kncked me out of ketosis. I also drink lots of iced tea. I couldn't do CKD without the coffie and tea!

Not to toot my own horn here, but I am the CKD MOD over at MassMonsterz.com. Any questions you might have about this diet and the training I will be glad to answer.

INTENSITY

Thank Iron,

Well. So far so good, I guess. I took my weight this morning and it is 140.2. So that's a 2 pound loss before my carb up. I was really tired this week and missed 2 cardio sessions. I also could not do the morning cardio sessions. i am planning to up my cardio this week and see if it makes a difference. I am just a little disapointed cause I was expected to see a greater loss. :(

Patience...

Honestly, I'd only weigh in about every 2 weeks, unless you're getting ready for a comp. 2 lbs/week is the max you want to lose, except for maybe the first week when you'll be dropping water due to the reduction in carbs.

I would also not use the Tanita - get a pair of inexpensive calipers, and just measure your skinfolds yourself. It will be much more reliable form of measuring diet results than the Tanita and the scale.
