CKD- carb up every 10 days. your thoughts?

I was wondering if being on a ckd and carbing up every 10 days, instead of 7, would be beneficial.

Anyone tried this?

I just enjoy being in ketosis, so much, that I hate feeling like shit on carb up day, and the day after.

What is scientific about carbing up on day 7, instead of 10?

I don't see how that would be a problem...

The science behind the timing of refeeds is based on the notion that plasma leptin will drop faster in people with lower percentages of bodyfat....thereby necessitating less time between refeeds.

If your energy levels seem okay running a 10 day cycle...I say go for it. Just keep an eye on your progress, etc.,

yes, it's beneficial if you're in the high double digits of bf% - ex: 20% where you can allow for a greater degree of flexibility in the diet - as soon as you drop below 12% for male and 15%for female more frequent carb-ups are crucial to the success of the diet

There is no one scientific proof about carbs ups, but a notion that muscle loss is an issue would qualify the need to refeed - thereby replenishing muscle/liver glycogen - decreasing gluconeogensis.

wow, I got a reply from Mr. X!!!!

It's what I was hoping for...

But why replenish your muscle/liver glycogen, when you are only going to deplete it in a couple of days.... and typically as soon as possible.

It's a grey area...the reason for replenishment is two-fold. 1) as Stryc-9 pointed out, the leptin factors 2)the factors of you being able to workout (weights-HIT etc...) w/ enough energy and no breakdown of muscle proteins for energy.

The two days that you get a great workout are enough to keep muscle mass the same , and - in some people - enough to gain minimal mass. Mainly using Bodyopus - Dan Duchaine (c)

The problem that most dieters (bodybuilders/fitness people) experience w/ CKD is that they lose muscle mass - mainly due to their inability to properly refeed.

well i am on TKD and i do refeed 2 or 3 meals on every saturday.
i live for it :) keeps me motivated :)

and it works great!
your metabolism slows down on any diet. so on the CKD as well.
you have to bring leptin levels up and refeed.
and start fresh into a new week or u gonna screw your metabolism and loose muscle!
