Circuit Workouts for women

No muscle = zero chance of ever achieving an "athletic look". If you want an athletic look, do athletics.

"This will chizzle the body to the way it was designed to be, LEAN!!!"

This is crap - the human body is not designed to be lean. Our bodies have adapted evolutionarily over millenia to store as much fat as possible as efficiently as possible.

If I want to keep my heart-rate within the fat-burning zone, I do aerobics.

"100% of clients tested lost an average of 11 lbs. in two weeks using the Chizzled Hard workout routines."

70% of weight lost inthe first week is water, as is 20% of the weight lost in the second week. Diet is the most important factor in any attempt to lose weight/fat.

Not flaming you Jedi - just want to look at "revolutionary programmes" rationally and critically.

I think circuit training is a new fad again a friend was going on and on about it to me. I am currently doing 5x5 I was just like well what ever works for you.

In my opinion, Circuit training is just too time consuming. I suppose if you weren't trying to build any type of real mass it might be beneficial. I'd rather use wieghts and a treadmill. I only use a few machines though: Leg press & leg curl machines are about the only ones I use, except for warm-ups. I see those curcuit trainers when I'm working out, and I have to laugh...on my lifting days my workout consists of 3-5 exercises, and theirs seems like a 5 hour neverending workout using the same weight every week. I don't really know much about Circuit training, but I do know that if you mix your cardio and weights, you aren't going do build much of anything...maybe tone is more like it.

There's this one girl at my gym - she has that sort of solid fat look - you know - big girl, clearly overweight, but she still looks pretty and cute - it kinda suits her.

Anyway - for a year now, I've watched her practically kill herself on the stupid circuit, every time I'm there, she's doing the circuit - she's obviously quite fit from it, but damn, her body shape hasn't changed a single ounce. In the meantime I've put 30kgs on my squat, 35kgs on my dead, and 5 kgs of mass on my body - not all muscle of course, but I've put on mass in the right places.

Circuit isn't a terrible thing if you push hard at increasing your weights - but most people don't have a clue and just do the same weights every week, and look the same every year.

I'm not sure what circuit she was doing but like most activity, you're not going to go far if you eat like crap.

I agree with your last statement about increasing the weights, I see the same thing at my gym.

Their circuit workout consists of 8 machines that work shoulders/biceps/triceps/quads/hams/chest/back with a lineup of steps with a counter in the center wall. Basically you spend 30 seconds at each machine and do 30 seconds of steps in between. Personally I've done it and I think it is a great workout and I still do it every now and then when I am short on time but I don't go light on the weights(I'll usually lift just as much as I would on free weights). For often then not, I see women doing very light weights over and over again but I also don't think that most people know just what 'lifting heavy' feels like.

"most people know just what 'lifting heavy' feels like."

I think this is very true, especially of women. Many people don't push themselves because they don't realize they are capable of more, or they could just be lazy.

hey, i heard a little about 5x5 training...
is there a link around?
I thought there was a sticky around here somewhere.
thanks! :D
