chewing gum okay?

this question may be a bit overzealous, but does chewing gum produce much of an insulin spike? is it something that should be considered taboo while cutting or even trying to build lean muscle mass? thanks for any info/thoughts.
 
depends on whether it is sugar free gum or not!
I am a chewaholic, I get through about 5-6 packs or sugar-free gum a day (I should cut down really), I am CKD so it's important for me NOT to get an insulin spike, but I have heard that some people can get kicked out of ketosis by simply chewing on some sugar free gum!?!?!
 
lee, what is CKD?

also, don't you mean some people can be kicked out of ketosis by chewing on some regular gum as opposed to sugar-free gum? or are there many carbs in even sugar-free gum?
 
CKD is a diet that a lot of athletes and bodybuilders use:

Some people are sensitive the sugar alcohols that are used in things like splenda, diet coke, sugar-free gum...etc therefore resulting in them being kicked out of ketosis, on the other hand, I have spoken to people here that have eaten more than 30g of carbs and they have stayed in ketosis, so it all depends on how your body responds. CKD requires you to be in ketosis.

I cut down on Splenda last week aswell, I used to have 3 splenda (the little tabs) in a cup of coffee. I am trying to cut down on all fake sugars!
