Cardio in the morning?

Alright, I'm cutting down right now. Should I do cardio in the morning? I've read and heard for the longest time this is the best time to do cardio to lose fat and not burn so much muscle, but every so often I hear that this is just even more catabolic after hours without food and that I should get protein as soon as I wake up. Is it worth doing to burn more fat or should just I just stick to cardio after workouts? What's the general concensus out there? Anyone have any relevant info. or articles?

If you've gone longer than 12 hours since your last meal, chances are you will be releasing catabolic hormones (cortisol) throughout the body, and muscle tissue will be compromised.

If you plan on doing aerobics first thing in the morning, have a small protein meal a couple of hours before you go to bed in the evening.
