I workout at night, but i do my cardio in the morning, goin to the gym in the morning is wasting too much time for me since i need to be to work at 8 am. I need to find a way to do cardio at home, are there any good pieces of equipment ie. treadmills, eliptical machines, or bikes in the 300 dollar range. i hate to jog so i wont do that in the morning, i need something i could do before work in my house??????

I was in the same boat. So I got a nice ass stationary bike from Sears that cost exactly $200. It calculates speed, distance, calories, fat and monitors heart rate. It has several programmed exercises too. Some people can't stand the stationary bike, but for my wife and I , we love it and lost a ton of fat and weight with proper diet. Right now, I cannot think of the brand name, but it is quiet as hell. I usually get up between 4:30-4:45 each morning to get my cardio on! Good luck.

You hate to jog but you'd consider dishing out some bucks on a treadmill or stationary bike? What kind of climate do you live in? Indoor cardio is like punishment when you can't get outside and do it. If your climate permits, why don't you get a real bike?

Two words for cheap, simple, and effective at home cardio besides jogging; jump-rope.

I bought a decent stepper from the Trading Post (weekly paper) for $75. It's not top shelf by any means but it works well for me & gets the job done.

You can probably pick up a good second hand piece of equipment for $300 or less in one of those publications.

You have play it again sports back there? they sell used equipment. you can get some good equipment at good prices.

Be careful with the cheap exersize bikes. I bought one made by Keys Fitness (off ebay) that cost about $350 including shipping and after about 2 months it broke. I haven't used it in about 3 months.
Speaking of ebay, there are sometimes some good deals on some high end bikes that you could check out.

You should try jumping rope, its a great workout. You could even superset it with pushups or box jumps or something else plyometric so you do your cardio and build some strength/muscle speed at the same time.

thanks for ideas..looks like its between the stationary bike and jumping rope....would ten minutes of jumping rope be equivalent to 20 mins of walking on a treadmill?

I have to agree..jump rope or jog.

Personally I dislike joggin too..but sometimes a necessary evil.

Someone posted this earlier and it works wonders.

A punching bag and a sit-up bench or crunch bench.

just alternate between the bag, crunches and push-ups and in a half hour your hosed.

I could barely lift my arms after the second day :) The stair steppers are great though but those cheapo ones break. ive had two I got them volunteers of America for $20 a piece... :)
