cardio: all u incline walkers

wanna b surfer

New member
i have been doing this now at 4.0mph with a 15% incline. and it seems too easy to be a 900 cal/hr excercise. i think that is because i hold the grip when i walk. do you guys do the same thing?
then if so, what i am wondering is, do you think it is still THAT effective? it could be becuase your arms are also burning calories to hold you up a little bit while you walk, or ur just making it easier on urself and its not that good a form of cardio if you hold the handle.
what do you guys think?

Get your hands OFF those rails or the front of the implement
and then tell us how EASY it is..

15% is good

I feel my calves burning

lol, i know its easy, but doesnt it make sense that you are exerting the same amount of energy to keep yourself going. just if you hold the rails you are distributing some of that energy through your arms as well and taking less stress to the legs? im doing this for cardio, not leg strengthening. am i just dumb? im an engineering major so my logic might be messed up, too much physics.

DO NOT hold the grip!!!!!!!!

and yeah, you know what rules? put a bar on your back with some weight on it. and then try 4mph at 15% incline, heheh

I thought you called us all incline wankers at first glance.

I read an article about how you burn more calories by pumping your arms.... yeah, it looks gay. But you're not on the treadmill to look glamourous, are you? It definitely makes a difference.... you work yourself much harder by not holding on.
