Carb and fat = bad mix? Even very low GI carbs like black beans?!?

One of my favorite meals these days its tuna(50gr protein), black beans(100gr = 23gr carbs) and a tbl of flax oil(14gr fat). Black bean has a GI of +- 30... So my question is: would be bad to mix a very low GI carb with flax oil?
What about sweet potatoes and brown rice?(GI = +-50)

P.S: Im trying to cut

My understanding is that mixing carbs (any carbs) and fats together in the same meal, is not beneficial if you are trying to lose body fat.

From what I´ve been reading I agree with u bro but I hope to read more input on this matter. Thanks!

I'd say no. The beans have a good portion of fiber, add in the flax and tuna and you've got a combo that will take awhile to be digested and broken down by the body. Your blood sugar should have a steady curve, so the flax won't go straight to fat storage.

I'd say the carbs + fat mixing phenomenon is being taken a bit too literally. We've got people on here that are worried about 5g of carbs mixed with their flax oil when obviously 5g of even dextrose isn't enough to make a significant surge in insulin, which btw is what we're trying to avoid while having large amounts of fat being digested.

I think mixing carbs + fats in high amounts, and/or bad sources is obviously a bad idea, but don't get so wrapped up in it. So long as you aren't getting like 20g of saturated fat along with 50g of simple carbs I'd say you're probably gonna survive to tell about it. I also think that mixing macronutrients is of more importance while bulking since your body is in a constant hypocaloric state and you have more chance of storing the surplus of calories as fat. If you're cutting then you are in a caloric deficit at almost all times anyways so you shouldn't be storing any of those calories, except during post workout nutrition which we can all agree is the one time we don't want fat period.

Use common sense reasoning. Eating a large bowl of cornflakes with whole milk and a scoop of peanut butter on white toast isn't a wise choice, even if you're in a hypercaloric state. However getting 5-10g of healthy fats with your c + p meals, or 10-20g of low GI carbs with your p + f meal probably won't make a big difference while dieting and probably not even while bulking.

everyone says don't mix carbs and fat...then peanut butter on wheat toast is bad for bfast or lunch if i'm trying to lose body fat?

WHATEVER!!!
Im sorry but I had to write it! But answering your question: if u are trying to lose fat the answer is YES! YES! YES!

A small amount of peanut butter on some low GI multi grain toast with a protein shake or other form of protein isn't that bad. A chicken breast, slice of multi grain bread and tbsp of peanut butter used to be my defacto standard lunch/snack meal and I had no trouble losing fat. Keep in mind it's lower GI carbs and healthier fats though, I don't think a slice of white bread loaded with butter would be on the same lines.

BTW Shinobi you said your favorite meal right now consists of carbs and fat and then you ask if it's a good idea to do so. All I have to ask is "are you losing fat"? If so then I'd say it's ok. I highly doubt 20 more points on the GI scale with the other 2 options you mentioned is gonna make that much of a difference.

I'm not saying there isn't any value in NOT mixing fats and carbs. I am saying however if you've got the other parts of your diet in check I doubt it will make or break it. I think people have just taken this recommendation to extremes when it's not required.

Vageta, you have made alot of sense. You further explained what Mr. X has said on this subject when asked about the c+f mixing. thanks.

I've lost 130 pounds, mostly on low carb but do mix in low fat at times as well. Yes, combination foods (high in carbs & fat) are really the reason we get fat. Think about it, theres a reason the two major schools of weight loss are low fat OR low carb

Now, obviously eating beans doesn't equate to eating a doughnut but there may be a better choice to be made.
