thinking of getting some solid rubber bumper plates from the above and a nice bar - not that expensive Under $1000USD for a full set and bar with an extra pair of 45s. Just use regular 2.5s, 5s with them.

And maybe store them at my gym for use.
Not much room at home to use em, except a brickwork pathway :)

plus they look awesome, since they are bigger and all the smaller plates
are the same size as the 45s :)
hehe

just wondering which bar to get

the Pro elite ones looks good - not too expensive.

Any Aussie outlets that sells bumpers?

Maybe a dumb question......

What exactly are bumper plates?

What are they used for" Purpose?

Thanks,
Joker

I went to Couran Cove Resort in QLD at Christmas and they had an awesome sports and recreation setup. In their under-cover, open air, free weights only gym, (they had a machine section that was separated from it :D) they had these type of bumper plates.

It was a bit of an ego trip loading up a bar with these plates that were apparently massive, and then flinging it around like it was nothing :D

I don't know where you could find them here?

they are oly plates that are rubber lined, so you can drop them without damaging anything when you do olylifts. Very handy when doing max attempts cleans etc :)
Plus you save energy by dropping them after each clean or snatch rep etc. Snatches can get hairy once you hit heavy weights and try lowering safely.

Also all the plates are the same size as a 45, so you are always at the same correct height even when warming up with 10lb plates on each side. Looks awesome when you have 7x10lb plates on each side :D

Cool. Thanks.

That would be nice to have all the plates with the same circumference.
