Brown RIce

Any rice, as long as it is drained and cooled quickly, can be stored in a covered container in the refridgerator for up to seven days and in the freezer for up to six months. Try to get as much of the air out of the container before storing.

Does it smell funny or is it slimy?? Look in the bottom of the container....

If not, eat it...

There is no way of telling if cooked rice is safe to eat. Cooked rice that contains toxin produced by Bacillus cereus will not look, taste or smell any differently to normal rice.

Uncooked rice usually contains bacteria called Bacillus cereus. These bacteria can survive the cooking process. If cooled slowly, they can germinate, grow and produce a toxin. Reheating rice before serving will not remove the toxin or kill all the bacterial cells, so the rice may still not be safe.

If you consume cooked rice that is contaminated with Bacillus cereus toxin you are likely to experience symptoms of nausea and vomiting within 1 to 6 hours, usually followed by diarrhoea within 10-12 hours.

Considering the price of rice, it really isn't the best idea to test it to see what happens.
