Box Squats Rock !

Background:

41 years old, 5'7", 150 lbs, 28" waist, 42 inch chest, 16" arms, 23 inch thighs, 15 inch calves.

Been lifting about 4 years, started at 122 lbs.

I was trying to get my squat to come up and nothing seemed to work. I would try to use 225 and would have problems trying to come out of the bottom and my torso would lean forward.

Well, after reading Mr. H's post on box squats, I decided to give them a try.

What a difference they have made.

I use an 11" box, which put me at about 1.5-2 inches below parallel.

About two months ago, I started out with 135 lbs, used a wide stance, and I went with the 8 sets of 2 reps method. Let me tell you, my ass, hips and upper thighs got so sore it was incredible.

The good news is that I am up to 225 now and everything is easier to do now. My deadlift, my rows, anything that takes glute and hip strength for stabilization.

I am also getting bigger upper thighs and a butt, and looking good in jeans, which I now get compliments on from the ladies.

All I can say is thanks and BOX SQUATS ROCK !!

I use a milk crate.

how high is the bench????? anything will do if you sit on it......and you are sitting about 1 inch bellow parallel

I tried the bech yesterday and it's too high, so I'll guess it's off to the store and get a milk crate.

Crab3535, keep up the good work. Box squats will difinely drive your squat higher as proven by westside barbell. Louie simmons know his shit when it comes to powerlifting.
