Book Review: Power Lifting - Texas Style

thnx for the heads up..i thought this was going to be something i should pick up..guess not lol

would you like s link to a bunch of free stuff to read about powerlifting? I dont think you can get much better than WSB..you can look at the training logs of Tate and a bunch of others..not to mention read a ton of stuff that louie himself wrote..better than any book

The books at EFS are pretty good. Some better than others, but thats a given. I know you know this Wnt2b But for those aspiring westsiders. Alot of the books there are about the science that WSB bases its techniques off of. Good reads if you want to be able to trouble shoot your own programs effectively

That's your personal opinion. LOTS of other lifters would say otherwise. Don't bash a book because it's not what you wanted. It is a simple book, not a complete text on the science of strength and power, but the basic methods in the book work. You might have looked it up on Amazon or something before you bought it to get an idea of what kind of book it was.

I did look it up on Amazon. As I said, no offense to you at all. You have your opinion and I have mine. You think it's agood book and recomended it, and I appreciated it. Even sent you K. I just didn't like it and felt I should give others a head's up.

Good lookin out. I have the WSB video collection and book. Honestly though, the whole thing seems way too comlpicated. I can't even figure out how you're supposed to do the beginner's program. Louie is the man as far as powerlifting, but he need to make his program easier to understand.

No offense taken on my part. I just thought you were being a little hard on the book, that's all.

It is a basic book, but at least it's not hella complicated like WSB is or something, ya know?

I wouldn't even want to try WSB. I'd rather just play around with set and reps schemes like 5x5, 10x3, 8x2, 3x3, 2x4, 6-8x1, 5,4,3,2,1, drop sets, rest pause, forced reps etc every once in awhile.

Maybe throw in a speed day here and there, but then again, I use basically a bodybuilding 4 day split so it'd be tough to throw a second bench day in for now.
