Big Gains/Little Pump

Spud

New member
I just started up lifting a month and a half ago and lately my strength has gone up pretty fast, but I dont really obtain a good pump. I train each body part once a week. For example, last week I did incline DB presses w/70's 6 times. Today I did incline DB presses w/80's 10 times. Ive been making persistant gains like that week in week out. I have good fire throughout my workouts and dont really get tired at all. The only thing that sucks is that I dont get that good of a pump when lifting, its weird. Also Ive noticed that Im really not growing that much to match my strength. I eat well(3000cal.), get enough rest and lift properly. Anyone know what might be going on here. BTW, Im not on any gear. Thanks

the 'pump' is far overrated. as long as you're making huge strength gains like the one you've mentioned, and eating good like you say you are, you'll be on your way. you have to give it time though.

You don't always get a decent pump. If you're having great lifts and making good progress, the elusive "pump" shouldn't be a concern. Do you at least get it on the typical bodyparts like arms?

Regarding the strength to size disparity, I'm the same way. My strength goes up disproportionately to my size. I've managed to level it out a little by eating around 6-7000 cals a day.

If you think you need the pump, use vanadyl and creatine before you lift:)

pump is based on the amount of blood in your muscles, it is more easily attained if you go for higher reps since it give more time for blood to pool in your muscles... if you just started lifting a month and a half ago then most likely the absence of size is due to coordination gains and practice. Usually after about 2-3 months then size gains start to happen because you max out your Neuromusclular efficiency and the your body has no choice but to grow..... BTW what are your stats????

Thanks guy's! Yeah I lift as heavy as I can safely to maximize my growth. My rep range is 10-6, no higher unless Im warming up. I do feel a good pump when I do arms and shoulders, but when I do chest its not as great. As for my stats, I really dont measure if thats what you mean. Im 23, 5'6", 165lbs. You should see the looks people give me when Im repping out those 80's. The DB's look bigger than me:D . I figured time is the key here, its just that I was out of the game for 2 years cause of a back injury, Im getting anxious to be as big as I was.
