Bi-girls, bi-boys question

I have a few lesbian friends who over and over have had the experience of falling in love with a girl, it's great for a while, then the girl goes back to guys. It seems lots of women cross back and forth from straight to gay all the time.

Guys, on the other hand, seem to come down on one side of the fence or the other and stay there. It's pretty rare to hear of a gay guy who went back to doing girls, or a guy who's into women for years and suddenly changes to guys.

Any genius out there had an idea why this is?

Don't know where you are getting your information from but I know several cases where men have been married and have a long loving relationship with thier wives complete with kids then all of a sudden they are finding out they were gay there whole lives. Shortly afterwards they get divorced and announce they are gay which is a big surprise to everyone!

See I don't belive that people suddenly turn gay I think they have always been that way and just deny who they are are refuse to belive it due to the way gays are treated as a poplulation. How would you feel if you could lose your job your friends and maybe even your family if you announced that you were gay? Would you be temped to hide who you really are? Think about it.L2L

In my experience, there are more truly bisexual women than men. I think L2L has a good point, but except for a certain current lesbian trendiness, that stigmata can apply equally to women.

Luv2lift, I wasn't putting anybody down. This is just something I've noticed during my 42 years on the planet. I agree that a lot of closeted guys get married and have kids. Oscar Wilde was married with four children! And I guess that John Walker traitor idiot -- his father left the family to move in with a male lover.

That's not so unusual, but crossing back and forth repeatedly -- that's what seems much more common among women than among men. Don't know why ...

I think its a lot more socially acceptable for women to do it then men. I think some men wouldn't mind experimenting if there wasn't so much anti-gay sentiment. I know at parties I see girls being encouraged to dike out all the time. I haven't ever seen a crowd trying to guys to make out.

The reason that women are more apt to explore their curiosity in this area is that the negative social stigma is generally towards men. How many times have you heard of "Gay Bashing" with a female victim?

All of the negative, and even violent, reactions men get for being attracted to the same gender must cause them to repress their innermost desires. Very sad.

Interesting story: one of my most liberal friends was a very serious pretty boy, thin, buff, big beautiful brown eyes like a deer, and totally straight. He was always totally liberal about sexuality until he went away to school and was endlessly hit on by gay guys wherever he went. He didn't turn into a gay basher, but it did make him a bit more sympathetic to homophobes. But I'm bi, and we've always been friends, so he kept at least a balanced viewpoint. When the guys stopped hitting on him a few yearsa later (he grew a really nasty ratty little beard) he calmed down again, lol.

But if someone just indicates politely that they might be interested, why get pissed off? Say no thank you, I'm not into that, and take it as a compliment.

If you're a goodlooking guy, you're going to have women and also some guys who are very interested in you. Dealing with that gracefully is an art. You have to learn how to say no without hurting someone's feelings unnecessarily.

But of course if someone's aggressive or rude , or won't take no for an answer, then you have to be firm and put your foot down.

Actually I think threads like this show how far we've come on this subject.

Twenty years ago, EVERY straight guy on the board would have felt compelled to say FAGS ARE SICK AND EVIL AND SHOULD ALL BE KILLED.

It's very encouraging to see how many straight guys are now able to shrug it off, live and let live, without worrying someone will think *they're* gay or bi or whatever.

In a perfect world straight folks would be happy being straight, gay and bi folks would be happy being that way, and everyone would treat each other with tolerance and respect.

Me, I was bi up thru college, but it was just too confusing, so I ended up gay. My straight buddies have no problem with it since they know I respect them and they respect me. Also, I think they like the fact that they don't have to worry about me moving in on their girls behind their backs.
