im going to be starting my third cycle and im looking to bulk. i would like some input on what way to go about training for size. last cycle i tried 5x5, strength went up nicely but i think a diff aproach would have given me more size. I was considering HST but i dont think it would be good enouph while taking aas. Any suggestions? What works for you?

Hey dude,

I am starting HST in 2 weeks when I get my gear. Have you done your homework? The routine seems pretty good. What are your thoughts?

i posted this question under a similar title a min ago.
IMO i get the most soreness the next day which is how i measure how good the workout is by doing a negative portion of the exercise really slow. i mean REALLY SLOW like 6-8 seconds, i find this really tears the muscle fibers.
however what works for one may not for the other.
someone told me to do less intensity more volume while on AAS. right now im not sure what my routine will be for my cycle in a few weeks.

i think that with the hst program you may have to do the routine everyday rather than every other. are you following it exactly

I'm doing HST with my test/var cutter right now. It seems to be working very well, strength is up after only one week and so is weight by 1lb or so, and I'm supposed to be cutting, and I have definitly lost some fat. Lift hard and if you have the energy, excentuate the eccentric portion like clomidclown said.

My cycle: test/var - r-ala, yohimburn, creatine

Jalfano,
Was at the gym last night working on my max for each rep. Will adjust when I am on. I am following it exactly as is. I was thinking about running a morning and evening session, not doing it every day. What do you think?

Paul - you doing any cardio to help with the fat reduction?

thats another thing about hst when on, if you find your max before you start or even when you just start your cycle, i think that since your strength will increase so much from the aas you wont be using enouph weight. i think it will be hard and not worth it to have to keep adjusting the weight. how do you plan on overcoming that situation if you even think it will be a problem?

I was thinking that once I start I will have to use a max weight to get the ball rolling. If I find that I am adjusting too much, I will either adjust every workout or change the routine. Have you thought at what you may do because of this?

this seems like a problem that might turn me away from hst during my cycle however i think i will use it between cycles. Anyone have any suggestions?

Yeah I have a suggestion, quit fuckin' around with spreadsheets and go lift.

Test+Bench/Squat/Dead = Big Man

Spreadsheets = Accountant

p.s. with less hostility, if your 10 rep max is 225lbs bench, and your increment is 10lbs, then your M/W/F weights will be: 185, 195, 205, 215, 225, 235. In other words, you (if american) are breaking the law, risking liver/cholesterol problems, hair loss, libido issues . . . to work out with effort only Friday every 2 weeks? Furthermore, HST argues that a 2 week decondition is sufficient to consider this sub-effort a "workload", when studies suggest after 4 weeks limb binding in male subject, 1RMs were recovered in 4 days? Also the every 48 hours was derived from IGF peak in rat resistance. The IGF peak is not indicative of maximal growth, as needle damage also creates IGF peaks. Further, if the studies were designed properly, rats have a different ratio and prevalence of fiber types (being small creatures) and the time course would be all off for the relatively more anaerobic human prevalence, in all likelihood.
