Best squat variation?

I'm enjoying the safety squat bar I just got from elitefts. It's so much better not having to worry about holding onto a bar.

i love front squats, my quads have grown much more from them than regular squats...then again regular squats below parallel helped my hammies and my ass get huge, i dunno if a huge ass is good or bad you be the judge

I think a squat's a squat and anything else is just a variation. Whether you go ATF or parallel is largely up to you, and your knees. Personally, I go to parallel on a squat. I think mass might have more to do with HOW you train than the form you use, but on the same note, ATF may recruit more muscles...but at what expense?

I thought that taking it below parallel was better for your knees than taking it to parallel, because it switched the stress to the hips, instead of the knees at their weakest point (parallel) I think needsize had something to say about that
