Best Dog Breed

My favorite breed of dog is a boxer and I have owned 2 of them. Very intelligent, loyal, and fearless. If you've got a 100 lb. boxer, no other dog can fuck with it.
 
What do you guys think?
 
Depends on for what? Pet? Hiking? Home protection?

I have a couple border collies... great buddies to have around. They are the smartest breed of dog.
 
Ask 10 different people and you'll get 10 different answers. There is no "best" dog breed. It's just what you prefer. Me? I like Dobermans.

My boxer "Rocky" is nearing 100 lbs and he's less than a year old. He's going to be a monster. His dad was 136 lbs and the mom was 96 lbs.

Best dog I've ever had, smart as hell to
 
I have a Weimaraner and just love him. He is very bueatiful gray color and quite intellagent, has huge floppy ears. I also like stocky muscely dogs such as the boxer, american bulldog(different than English), boston terrier, or french bulldog.

Too manly to have a standard poodle? lol, I thought they were the smartest.

I prefer mixed breeds; with some herding or working dog in them. I've adopted all of my pets (well, except for the fish). Too many unwanted pets are killed and abandonded for me to worry about getting a psychotic pure breed pet from a puppy farm, or even one from a breeder (no offense, I know there are some here).

2. TC2 where the fuck did you get your boxer from? Is he from a registered breeder. I want some info here bro because if your not full of shit I want one of those. Shoot me a PM with some info, I have never seen a boxer that big before.

3. When I asked which breed is best, I was asking for opinions, because it is subjective.
 
german sheperds are my favorite breed. i have a mix sheperd with a pit. he looks like an average sheperd with a huge head like the pits have. very smart and loyal dog

I got him from a couple that only breed boxers, all of their dogs are huge.

He's registered and everything, you'd shit if you saw him or espeicially his dad.

The dad was so big that when he jumped up on your chest(if you follow me) he could look eye to eye with me and I'm 6ft tall.

I'll see if I can find my camera and snap a pic of him.(my dog that is)

True, my black lab is one of the smartest dogs I've seen. SHe is working on her master hunt title right now.
 
Boxers are my favorite also. Have a seven yr. male who is AKC reg. He is just over 100lbs of solid muscle. He's smart
well behaved, laid back, loves kids and great guard dog. Also have female who weighs around 75. Just had puppies. We kept male puppy. Great dogs, if you plan on getting one I'd make sure to see both parents because I've seen alot of
boxers who aren't that impressive
 
My Shepherd died of HD recently. You have to take this into account when you call them the best race. Coming home to your dog and knowing that you will have to go to the doctor and have him killed in a few weeks because he won´t be able to walk anymore while at the same time he is happy to see you is very disturbing.

I've never seen a boxer that wasn't solid muscle :D

But if I only had one dog to chose from I would chose the Australian Cattle Dog/Blue,Red Healer! Smart as Fuck! Athletic SOBs and they got your back!

Yeah, I have one of those, blue merle. Herders are a bundle of energy. Some of the pure breeds have problems with deafness, and alergies are common too.
 
I'll have to cast my vote to German Shepards, although thats the only kind of dog I've ever had.

Big, protective, smart (for the most part, not so much this one we have right now), and I love the regal look of them.

I'd love to have a Welsh Corgi Pembroke though.
 
i gotta 180lb great dane that would....................probably like to play with your boxer. He don't take no shit, but he likes to play that is for sure. He did hold the upper hand with the neigbors huge german shepard I was surprised, but then again he had a pretty rough childhood.
 
only problem with great danes is that there all show. There not aggressive when they need to be.

I've never seen a great dane that was willing to fight anything.

It depends on how they were raised. My last one roamed the countryside on his own(before I had him), and would beat the shit out of anything that crossed his path. Granted he didnt run into someones trained fighting pitbull, but he was a tough sob. They were breed to hunt wild boars, trust me they can get a wild hair up their ass.
 
People who are not "educated" about dogs seem to think that bigger is better. Fighting dogs such as pit bulls, boxers, amstaff terriers are medium size for a reason.

Especially tall dogs such as great dane are not made for fighting other dogs, and would get killed by a boxer or pitbull. While the american bulldog is also rather tall, it packs so much muscle that it devestates other dogs with its brute strength. Unfortunately after 15 minutes they have enough and don't want to fight anymore.

The most dangerous dog in the world is a 75 pound pitbull period. Boxers up there too, but pitbulls have been bred for gamness in the last 50 years while the boxer has not. There is speculation that the japanese tosa rivals the pitbulls fighting prowess but they are not nearly as game, or as quick.

The AKC and CKC breed standard for boxers is 22.5 - 25 inches at the withers and 75lbs. I know that with boxers its easy to pack a ton of muscle on them but I have never before today heard of a boxer who weighs over 130 pounds. I'd really like to know where you got him, and if they have a website.

I own a black lab and a bull mastiff. I got the mastiff to tone down my lab. They do well together.

i never said bigger was beter. I dont know any dog that can beat some of the homies pit bulls in northeast kc pulling tires up the street attached with log chains. I just wanted to make the point not all great danes were pussies. they would have a ture disadvantage with a 2000lb psi grip from a small dog on the underside biting their cock off. ouch.

It's how you rasie them too, boxers have so much energy that they sometimes don't pay attention to what you say.

If you train them from the start, they can be really smart. My dog is the smartest dog I've ever had and he learns stuff after only telling him to do it a few times.

Either you don't know boxers temperment very well or your neighbours dogs are a disgrace to the breed. Rsnoble, I wasn't talking specifically to you. Great danes are not pussies at all.
