Babyfaced, I used to talk to him all the time over e-mail and on the dragondoor discussion board. I believe he states that carbs are readily converted to bodyfat in humans, does he write that in his book? If so he is wrong, as this conversion is a significant pathway in rats and mice, but not in humans. Carbs can be converted to fat during extreme intakes over a period of time, w/ the prescence of fats, or w/ inactivity, but Ellis, I believe, says carbs eaten almost instantly go towards fat storage. I think he uses the rat studies to justify this statement. Even thought the denovo lipogenesis (carbs converting to fat) studies in humans show this does NOT readily happen. I've talked about this extensively w/ Lyle McDonald. Ellis also believes leptin was a bust and showed me some studies, but as we know the latest research is showing leptin is KEY in maintaining a normal hormonal environment when bodyfat levels get very low.
