Here are some anectdotes from MILO:
RE squat: . . . The weight was said to be 275 kilos (605 lbs) and competitors were squatting to parrallel. . . Bergmanis also got six reps, but the former (Olympic-style) weightlifter did his without a squat suit or even a belt or knee wraps, which prompted a lot of gushing comments (Svend, generously, later said that he couldn't have done six in that style, and one guy quipped that Raimonds should have been given bonus reps for not using any support gear.)
Note: If you go back and watch the final, you can clearly hear Kaz say something along the lines of: "He's really taking it old-school."
RE deadlift: . . . The deadlift was said to come in at 350 kilos (770 lbs ) , and before the event started, there was some concern that the weight was too heavy, but equiment-event maestro Jamie Reeves sttod by his decision and the show went on. It would prove to be a good call, because while Edmunds couldn't knock off any reps, Dymek did six, Perry, Karlsen, and Pudzianowski did eight; Savickas and Rasanen, did nine, and the winner, Bergmanis, polished off eleven.
