belt lipectomy

Well I've told the story of how I went from 300 lbs to 200lbs but couldn't get rid of (what I thought were) the last pockets of fat around my mid section and lovehandles / flanks ...

I consulted with a plastic surgeon for liposuction, he told me that I didn't need lipo because there was hardly any fat left but it was all loose skin, that my skin had shrunk as much as it could but since it was so stretched before there was just so much more skin that was just 'hanging' there. He said the only way to improve that was to have a surgery called belt lipectomy where basically they make an 'belt' incision around your entire midsection and around back to the flank, remove the excess skin, and then tighten and pull the remaining section of skin up to each other.

There will be quite a scar, but it's worth the tradeoff, I've seen pictures of before and afters for this procedure and it is quite amazing.

It's gonna cost me $7,000 and a scar but I guess such is the price one pays for nutritional ignorance.

Elective surgery isnt always a good idea. Alot of things can go wrong with any surgery and you could die.

But if your sure you will be much happier after this do it, you worked hard to lose that weight and you deserve to enjoy your new look.

Have you maintained your weight for a while? If theres any chance you could blow up again it would be a shame to waste all that money.

Too bad you cant find a reason for insurance to pay for this.

congrats on your progress, that is quite a change. Make very sure it is what you want to do and may you have the best of luck with whatever you chose to do.

If it were me, I think I would do the same to loose skin.

This was probably the incorrect place to ask this question..go to a plastic surgery board...but I can answer ya!!:0 )

Anyway..I've lost about 200 pounds..and am a belt lipectomy waiting to happen. Mainly, my plastic surgeon said a belt lipectomy was like having your pants pulled up. The outer thigh, flanks, glutes, stomach are all tightened and excess skin removed. It gives amazing results. Trade off? The scar is freaky and enormous..it goes all the way around your body at the midsection like a permanent belt. Also, IT'S EXPENSIVE. I was quoted a price of 10 grand. Moral of the story, unless you have enormous amount of excess skin, go for the full tummy tuck, which is what I'm doing. I wouldn't do it...as a woman, the scar was just bigger then what I wanted.
