beginner / looking for criticism on diet schedule

ok so... im kinda new and just trying to figure out the best way for me to get what i need.. here's my eating schedule as of now.

I usually try to eat every 2 to 3 hours to work out to at least 6 times a day...

1st = cup of raw oatmeal, few slices of strawberries, 2 egg whites
2nd = protein shake (genisoy protein shake, 1 full scoop mixed with a glass of skim milk)
3rd = Chicken breast and Yams. nothing added ie oil/butter. usually add some veg, ie broccoli or carrots.
4th = same protein shake as 2nd.
5th = either lean beef or chicken breast, usually with baked potato, nothing added.
6th = all natural peanut butter on whole wheat.

i also take fish oil capsules for healthy fats, and b12 and multivitamin.

I started lifting 3 times a week and try to do some cardio in between.

I'm 6'4 and 228 pnds at the moment.. i dont know my bmf yet, but my main complaint is the fat in my belly/chest.. I can tell just by looking at myself that body fat must be high.. kinda skinny arms but big belly.

I'm looking to gain some muscle and get rid of the fat. This is the routine i've been going on for about 3 weeks now and aside from a few small changes i've seen in my body, I've actually enjoyed a lot more energy than i ever had before.. as before i used to drink a lot of cola, eat chips, take out, greasy food, drink a lot.. just horrible stuff.

I'm just looking for any advice or critique i could get that may help me improve my current routine, or may help me better get to my goals. I'm not looking to get into pro bodybuilding, i just wanna get to the point where i get some gains and a 6 pack would be nice after years of looking at my belly.

Check out a ketogenic diet (use the search function) - High protein/ high good fats/ no carbs.

You will burn bodyfat fast for fuel and still gain muscle, although less muscle than on a bulking diet. Plenty of energy on Keto as well! Either way not anough protein in that diet dude.

In the morning make it 6-8 egg whites. a couple of yokes is OK too. Add another shake befor bed. Add another whole food meal with protein during the day, ie tuna salad.

Plenty of olive oil/ flax oil/ nuts/ fish oil (good fats are essential)

Mix peanut butter into your shakes.

Reading this reminds me of myself 3 and a half months ago when I started lifting and cardio. I was the exact same size as you, 6'4" and 228 lbs and was carrying it all in my belly. I changed my diet from fast food, soda, junk to very close to what your eating now (honestly almost identical).

This morning I was 202 lbs (down 26 lbs). I am doing a 4 day workout program (1. arm, chest 2. legs 3. Shoulder 4. back) 2 days of 15 minute HIIT on the bike. Each week I tweak/fine tune my diet based on my results. The first month I focused more on cardio and I lost about 15 lbs right away, now I am losing about 1 lb a week. I focus more on weight lifting now.

I still have more belly fat to lose, but I am getting close!!

Based on your weight and diet, I do believe your getting enough protien.

I personally think your diet is very good, similair one is working for me. Just fine tune it as you go.

Looks like a good beginner diet.

I would do a bit of research into post-workout nutrition.

Keto diets really work well for some people, there is also things like carb cycling or carb tapering, so you cut out starchy carbs in the evening (unless of course you are weight training, carbs are great after training)

thanks all for the feedback, i really appreciate it.. its reassuring to know at least im on a good start, but I think i'm gonna try and tweak it a bit untill i feel whats right for me.. Im gonna do some more research in the keto diet.. but i think for now im gonna try and add a bit more protein ie eggs, and cut the carbs down for the days im not training. thanks everyone :)
