Hey, Im just wondering if drinking beer, or alcohol is ok while in keto? I live in Canada so at 19 I can drink. Anyways since starting this diet my friends are goin nuts cos when we go out i never drink with them. So I was wondering if alcohol can kick me out, or if i should just not drink occasionally with friends.

Im just wondering about drinks like Corona, or shots of stuff like vodka, bacardi, tequila.... I know I should probably stay away from mixed drinks like mikes hard, and smirnoff ice as im taking it those have carbs. I havnt been able to finr nutritional info on these drinks so I have no idea. Anyone know?
 
As far as I know most "white" liqours have no carbs. Not sure about knocking you out of ketosis, but I do know that your liver will process the alcohol before anything else because your body sees it as a toxin. So, while the alcohol is in your system (my understanding is about 24 hours, but I am not an expert) your body will not be processing fat at a high level. The liver is required for fat conversion to energy, so until it is done with the alcohol , no fat burning for you. I drink about once a month, and only low carb alcohol (miller lite, vodka, Mich ultra), but I do this knowing it will only slow my fat loss.
 
Learn to like gin and soda water.

Also, what works well for me, is cycle 6 weeks off booze every couple of months.

I have done this 2 times and it is very effective. I gain good and I also have the glimmer of hope that my socal life will return soon.

Edit: Oh and to answer your question, I would drink on Friday night and it didn't seem to affect keto come Monday.

It will usually knock you out of ketosis, but as soon as your body burns it off you drop right back in. I participate in Crown and Bacardi mixed with diet coke and diet sprite quite often :p
 
why drink. and believe me, i was a sixpack a nite guy, so im not preaching here. the way i look at it is: alcohol consumption slows down our testosterone production. higher test levels, the better for packing on muscle. So why slow down the process? it is just not worth it for me anymore. i am 35 so im in a diff position than u. but try to find away around it. i ask myself. How is drinking helping me? What is the benifit? and then i just cant find any, so i dont drink. i hv a refreshing glass of ice cold seltza. And look forward to my next workout.
 
Im 19 and party frequently :) Trust me being sober at a club with all your friends aint as much fun as if you was &#*! faced :)
